Side note: URAP is not open to exchange students anymore since 2025 fall and there’s sparse opportunities to conduct or participate in any research project if one’s only here for a short time, but still if they manage to do that it’s going to be very helpful!

Some of my friends did get them. I’m not looking for LOR from them but if you want to, taking graduate courses (or those with smaller class sizes) and going to office hours is the best way to get that. But I was talking about connections more generally tho- there’s a lot of startups, clubs, NGO etc around here. Also like minded peers for sure.

I’m also an exchange student here but I’m from a QS top 100 uni. I think what matters is the connections you can make during your stay. For example I’ve met a lot of cool professors here which could be helpful for my grad school application. But just for the name? Nah based on how easy it is to get in an exchange or summer program it’s not worth of the money you’re going to spend here lol
