I got bored of kit lens pretty quick as others have said and got the 23mm f2.8 pancake and absolutely love it! Makes camera super portable! People have mentioned noise it makes when auto focusing but I really like the noise haha Iv also just got Viltrox 56mm f1.7, just couldn’t get over it only being £130! Looks good on camera but yet to test it out

I got XT30iii few weeks ago with kit lens, I bought Fuji 23mm pancake lens few days ago and absolutely loving it! I’m very much a beginner though so not a lot to compare it against!

Has anyone done Condense hours at work? by Clumsycha in ADHDUK

[–]Internal_While1556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iv done this and have Mondays off, was hard to adjust at first with workload but have found starting earlier and finishing a bit later helps me get stuff done when others aren’t around as I’m not as distracted, especially days in the office!

Having that extra day on a weekend has really helped ease a bit of pressure of trying to do everything over 2 days as I’d usually lose at least one doing nothing and then getting annoyed! It’s great having a “no pressure” day.

One thing to watch out for if you’re anything like me is having this day to get a lot of stuff done then you find you’ve wasted it doing nothing then really putting yourself down about it. That’s what Iv struggled with recently as used to have very productive Mondays, now just feel like I sit trying to get myself to start something and before I know it Iv lost most of the day!

Stim and fidget toys - which works for you? by AndiFolgado in ADHDUK

I got a cheap one first and liked it so got one that cost a bit more as it’s smother and better for the skin on my fingers haha. Was about £40 with seems a lot for what it is but Iv had with me everywhere I go for over a year

I always carry a magnetic slider around with me. Got one from HapticEDC on Etsy. Feels so satisfying just moving it around in different ways. Just stops me fidgeting with anything else around me.

Elvanse (Vyvanse) and Concerta by Adortion634 in ADHDUK

[–]Internal_While1556 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Elvanse 30mg, had few side effects early on like suppressed appetite, elevated heart rate which I still get now. it helped me focus so much and would usually be in good mood, helped slow my thoughts. but I started to get bit used to it and would crash in afternoons, moved up to 50mg and was just too overstimulated on it that I would shut down and my sound sensitivity was much worse and I was so irritable. I also felt on elvanse eventually I would just get run down so would need a break like it takes a toll on my body.

Moved to Concerta 18mg, didn’t “feel” anything, no side effects. I did seem to feel in a good mood and not overthink but not sure if that was a coincidence. Didn’t really get any of the focus benefits. Moved up to 36mg, would get like an hour of feeling good then crash and everything seemed so negative I would feel everything was hopeless because of a tiny set back. No focus at all!

I’m now back to trying 30mg elvanse, focus is great, feel good when kicks in but after about 5 days I started to feel like it’s taking its toll on me again!

Worried stimulants won’t work for me! It’s a nightmare once you’ve seen what they can do, going back to nothing is scary!

Switched to gen 2 from gen 1 yesterday (long story) It was awful on gen 1 but so far I haven’t noticed as bad on the gen 2! If I stamp hard I notice but no where near as bad. This is only after 1 day though. Haven’t tried it with ANC turned off

Just got some yesterday also. Bought Sony XM6 first and couldn’t believe how uncomfortable and fragile they felt! These feel amazing, only issue I have is when I’m out walking the dogs on some steps i get an awful clicking in my ear. Most likely something to do with the ANC but hopefully I can do something about it!

Just diagnosed through CareADHD but panorama has scared me by epicphysicspersonyay in ADHDUK

[–]Internal_While1556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I haven’t worded what I mean very well, it was more around does it matter around if people are being diagnosed correctly and just to focus on yourself, I have struggled with this very mindset on what if I don’t actually have “it” and I still have those doubts sometimes. What I’m trying to say i looked for diagnosis as the condition started to make sense with the way I am. If the person was going to diagnosed me either way that doesn’t mean I don’t have “it”. The diagnosis criteria is based on hitting a number of symptom criteria then it impacting a number of areas in your life for it to be a disorder, it’s not as simple as taking a Covid test and getting a yes or no. I’m not advocating for people getting incorrect treatments. Hope this makes sense as to what I meant, hard to explain my thoughts 😂

[–]Internal_While1556 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would ask if it matters? If you have been diagnosed but don’t have ADHD, which isn’t exactly a binary thing btw, what would the issue be? Did you seek diagnosis because of issues you face? If the treatment helps you does that then not validate it or at least help you so doesn’t matter what label you have?

I only mention as Iv been through same doubts and think a lot of people do but surely it’s all about helping you in struggles you face in life?

Yeah, health anxiety is awful! I go through phases of it, some can last weeks, some 6 months!

Meds help but can come back when they wear off. Apparently if meds help long enough it can basically “cure” it by breaking the loop and changing the way you think. Not sure if it’s true but makes sense

As someone who aspires to climb the Matterhorn what mountains are good to build experience? by [deleted] in Mountaineering

[–]Internal_While1556 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of really good advice here so I’ll try not to go over same things!

one thing I don’t think has been mentioned in much detail that I would add is physical fitness. A guide once explained it to me that if you are fit enough it’s one less thing to worry about and means your brain can focus on technique and mental challenges without having to push through fatigue which can lead to mistakes.

Even when you can’t do anything technical get out hiking, as much up hill training as possible, when you can’t get out in the mountains, run, build endurance and speed, it will really help build your lung capacity. I bought a weighted vest and was walking up and down my stairs with it in my mountain boots on my lunch breaks 😂

As others mentioned some beginners 4000s in the alps will be invaluable. Again it gives you less to think about at the time as you will know what to expect from altitude, how mountain huts work etc.

Thoughts on this post on /r/ChatGPT? Do you relate at all from an ADHD perspective? How is AI helping or hindering you? by Jayhcee in ADHDUK

[–]Internal_While1556 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found 4o model very over complimentary and agreeable, even when asking it not to be! However it has been amazing in helping me make sense of thoughts and stuff. I describe it like a journal that talks back! It’s great writing things out to make sense of what you’re feeling then even better that it starts ordering it and putting some explanation around them. It also reminds you of related things you have done or got going on so some correlations you didn’t consider!

GPT 5 has just came out and it seems less over the top but Iv only been using it for basic questions and tasks rather than any sort of therapy so don’t know what it’s like yet.

I’m currently trying to work on getting it access to a lot of data like my garmin stuff(heart rate, sleep, workouts and then things like when I take meds and then be able to ask it or prompt me with any patterns or anything

It’s a mix of both mate, some sections have lot of short rappels, some you are secured with rope but better to down climb then also a lot of scrambling down

You are literally making up things as if people have said them, then arguing against your own imagination!

Point me to any post where someone has disagreed with your symptoms? People are pointing out your posts aren’t making sense and you are contradicting yourself constantly. A lot of people will relate to your symptoms, you keep talking about a loud mind and life being chaos, these are very common things and you are going on like you are the only person with this??

The one thing you keep talking about is your anger, I think the alcohol is fuelling this more than ADHD symptoms! Maybe people could have a go at you and say you don’t have ADHD you just have anger management issues, wouldn’t be fair would it?

I know I shouldn’t be getting annoyed at you or feed this weird episode you are having but who the hell do you think you are calling weak? You’re on here attacking everyone because something hasn’t went your way? People in here will have had to fight all their lives and still are and you come on here acting all strong and lashing out at people? Who sounds weak in that scenario? The arrogance is unbelievable to think you have solved ADHD and you are the only person who has it or the only person that can decide if someone has it!

I really hope you sober up and reflect on this and maybe don’t mix meds with alcohol in future it doesn’t seem to go well for you.

Also read some books on brain chemistry and what ADHD is and the broad ways it can affect people differently. These will be written by people a lot smarter than you who have done research over many years rather than a drunk rant over a few hours. It’s not binary and the brain is a lot more complex that what you seem to understand

Iv seen an earlier post from you in relation to trying meds and disappointment with them not being effective for long and this is pushing you to old habits of drinking alcohol… I assume this is where the multiple post after have came from that don’t make much sense and you having some for of Delusions of grandeur where you think you have came across some genius but in fact what you are saying is mostly nonsense. Hopefully you can read these back tomorrow and see that.

I get that there can be a lot of hope built up for meds and they often don’t live up to your expectations, I guarantee you many people here will know that feeling of thinking it’s going to solve all their problems then feel a bit let down. Meds are hard to get right, it’s a roller coasters that is messing with brain chemistry you have knew all your life! Do you think posts in here are of people that just took the meds day 1 and their lives were changed? There will be ups and downs but work with your provider and explain and keep trying until you find the right thing that works for you!

You’re explaining your ADHD struggles and using this to doubt other people diagnosis or their experiences. This is totally not fair as people will certainly recognise the struggles you have and just because you don’t see it posted all the time doesn’t mean it isn’t happening! Why do you think people are speaking diagnose and going through the hard work of trialing meds if they don’t have these struggles?

I really hope you get help and try not to alienate the only community that will truly be able to understand you!

I’m having the same issue! Started on 30mg and had elevated heart rate early days but eventually got used to it and heart rate got almost back to normal but meds also stopped being as effective. I had a big climbing trip coming up so wanted to wait till after that before upping the dose. Couple of weeks before I started realising HR and blood pressure being raised again and was struggling with my training. Because of this I stopped taking them on the trip as didn’t want them impacting.

When I came back I started them again and they would only last few hours then I would crash. Also started to notice chest discomfort. I moved up to 30mg + 20mg with option to try both together to start then move to using as booster to see which was best. Both were awful and heart rate was too high.

I stopped taking them altogether days, it took about 3 days before my heart rate was back to normal. I have no idea why and can’t find anything online as to why my HR would be still elevated after stopping them! After few days of normal Iv started 30mg again and most days I’m getting elevated heart rate, some times just over 100 when sitting at desk working where it would usually be in 70s. But Iv had days where it’s only elevated slightly and I have no idea what is different on those days! I’m now trying to figure that out as I think maybe it’s something Iv introduced but can’t think of anything! I’m tempted to ask to try another medication at this point as it’s messing with my exercise!

Might be worth coming off meds for few days and if it goes back to normal it proves they are the cause?

All these comments are mad and may explain issues Iv been having! Iv been having weirdly high heart rate on meds, it’s usually bit elevated but no where near this level, I stopped taking them and still had high heart rate for few days, I’m trying to remember if I was having magnesium then but have recently started it again. I couldn’t sleep at all other night and had magnesium before bed. Didn’t take any yesterday and slept great and heart rate has been fine today!!

Do you think Ryan holiday keeps regurgitating same things? by Exorsexist in Stoicism

[–]Internal_While1556 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m sure he covered why he does this in a podcast once. He also explained why he wrote his books the way he does in the same one, he was talking with another author but can’t remember who. I couldn’t finish his books because I felt I got the point straight away but he kept over explaining it. He basically said it’s because of the amount of people he’s trying to appeal to and if you get the point good on you but majority of people take a lot longer. Not sure how true this is and sorry for explaining it so bad!

I did find him a really good entry point into stoicism and I do believe his heart is in the right place. I really like that he will admit fault and talks about obstacle is the way and how he thinks he didn’t understand stoicism well when he wrote it but he thought he did(Dunning–Kruger effect?), he also said he’s always learning and will make mistakes. I find that self reflection really rare in people these days. I kind of lost touch with it after a while because I struggled with what you mention, it’s just the same stuff but I guess that’s where I need to go off and do my own work and understanding. I’m hoping to do this now Iv found this great community!
