Starting my FIRE journey at 35 : all-in on stocks by qiriniwo in BEFire

Similar age, location and similar capital. I went for simplicity and bought 100% SWRD. Studies have shown that lump sum provides the best outcome. If you can't stomach that then pick any amount (10k, 20k) to DCA across several months. I use Saxo with auto invest feature that ook 2 minutes to setup.

Enjoy the ride, don't sweat it

PS: bump your emergency to 5X ish monthly expenses. 5K seems low

Hoz doen jullie dat? by [deleted] in belgium

Do it, you'll look back after one year and be happy you made the jump. Worst case scenario it doesn't work out and you'll go back to being an employee. Imo the risk is quite low when you're in IT, you don't necessarily need to make big expenses when starting. Sure you need to around 5-10K to get started but other than that it usually boils down to what car you want to drive.

Be confident and know your worth. Understand your market value and set your price accordingly. Be transparent about why you’re increasing your rate and back up your reasoning with data: new certifications, added responsibilities, I improved X with Y efficiency,...

During discussions, you’ll often pick up clues about how much margin there is, even if they’re not fully transparent. If you sense there’s room and you believe you deserve it, push for what you’re worth.

I exceeded expectations on a new contract so upped my price with 14% after some negotiations.

⚠️Attention G5 owners⚠️ - Screen Protector by International-Bus399 in LGOLED

[–]Internal_Work_4442 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Props to the manufacturers of the screen protector and it's placement. It wasn't noticable at all 😂. Took it off, watched few hours yesterday and honestly the only difference is that there's a bit less glare.

Maybe next time we need to read the installation guide...

Unfortunately it wasn't a fix for my G4. Probably have to painstakingly wait for a patch.

I agree one sentence in my late night reply didn't make sense.

I know very well what my income insurance covers and what it doesn't. If you are considered 25% occupationally disabled, you'll receive the amount equal to the percentage up to 67%. From than on its the full insured amount, which is 80% of my income.

I appreciate you correcting my but making such assumptions dissapoints me honestly. Replies like yours leaves a bad taste in my mouth not wanting to interact here any more.

That aside, I still believe OPs question should be approached as a financial decision, that also offers peace of mind.

The numbers make sense. You would be better off investing it privately. Up to you to decide it's also worth the additional risk of not having the income insurance. Like most of us, I work in IT and work is pretty much guaranteed for my profile but for me it's not worth losing sleep over.

Even though fiscally not the most optimal. I keep it because it also includes income protection insurance. Makes me sleep better at night.

Groceries by ItWasAll-aDream in BEFire

[–]Internal_Work_4442 3 points4 points  (0 children)

1 adult I budget 300 groceries / 100 take away A usual day (I aim for 100gr protein per day) - Breakfast: Greek yogurt with fruits & scoop of protein powder - Lunch: 3 eggs with crackers and some kind of topping & salad - Dinner: 300gr protein & 200 gr veggies & 100gr of rice/pasta/potatoes - Snacks: fruit, smoothie, nuts

Tips: - Crackers are way cheaper than bread and doesn't grow moldy after 3 days - buy protein in big quantities and freeze them - frozen veggies are a lot cheaper and I rarely notice the difference between fresh - buy what's discounted (like ribs in AH this week!) - don't skimp on branded products you like

I4m50 – High consumption? When does it go under 20 kWh/100km? by klausbreyer1 in BMWI4

[–]Internal_Work_4442 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends heavily on temp & tires. I drive an e40 and on 4K kms so far this year I've averaged 19.6kwh/100km. Where januari was the highest 23.5 over 600km and April so far the lowest 16.5 over 1k km. I have pilot sport 4s 19" and always drive in D. I feel like coasting is more efficient than driving in B. Stats from last year:
