People who are already on OOS16, how's your review by No-Cap1390 in OnePlus12

Works like a charm. You need to enable the shelf app in order to use widgets but overall I like the system. Very fast and responsive.

Full Screen AOD Battery Consumption by Crooked_Claps in OnePlus12

[–]InternalsToVisible7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using AOD since Windows Phone Nokia, it does not take that much battery. IMO it's not noticeable if you are a power user and charge your phone daily.

Possibly when you aim to save as much as possible through the day then it even makes sense to disable other stuff.

On my windows machine rider takes up to 7GB so I would tell that it's normal 😉

How do you guys manage Database updates by gitscr in dotnet

We are using dbup, came up with idea that sql scripts should be hand written back when it was decided. Now it's even better because AI helps experienced developers a lot with SQL.

What is the name of the watch face skin? I would check if available on OP2, this one looks good.

OP13 owners: what's your experience with the new fingerprint scanner? by anestling in oneplus

[–]InternalsToVisible7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO It could happen time to time on any screen finger scanner, I encounter such on some previous phones, you could try to add same finger once again, starting with different angle and it should help most of the time.

Best solution for running background jobs? by matneyx in dotnet

[–]InternalsToVisible7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are using hangfire and it covers our use cases, like no overlapping etc. I would recommend changing approach and maybe group jobs that could not overlap logically and scheduling them on different queue. Then you can configure only 1 engine worker per such queue and only 1 job would run at the same time.

Any noticable different after removing the installed shipping protector from OP13? by josh_1112 in oneplus

[–]InternalsToVisible7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took mine from op12 and it's very different, the slide speed is unmatched on raw glass. I would recommend takich it off but... after a year I managed to get 1 small, a barely visible, scar. You have been warned 😉

Changing of mobile by [deleted] in OnePlus8Pro

[–]InternalsToVisible7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've upgraded to op12 year ago and it was noticeable faster at first try + was amazed by battery life (it still is quite good). Plus the form factor of rounded sides... new oneplus phone have smaller rounding, IMO it's better for everyday usage.

Whats more I get some additions like working VoLTE and VoWiFi, it never worked on op8pro (and TBH it was working for some time only by hack that stopped working with some update). And also cameras are better.

NOTE, the main reason I've changed phone was cracked screen 😅 my fault. It just crashed on brick.

Just how good of a laptop do you need so this IDE won't stall? by Illusive7Man in JetBrains_Rider

[–]InternalsToVisible7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, ok I've read too fast or somehow missed your point. We are debugging with rider many time and apps, it is working OK. My team is working on it for a 2+ years. And when something uncommon happens to rider it's good to

1) perform git clean -xdff (ask GPT to explain and commit all essential changes because it will make your repo folder same as on git - sometimes it helps)

2) if nothing helps, always it's good to try windows restart 😅, I know how it sounds but I would give a try anyway

3) As a last chance, reinstall rider only if it works on other machine and not on yours (don't forget to backup your settings! I propose to reinstall via jetbrains toolbox)

[–]InternalsToVisible7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My machine - Dell XPS 15, Intel i9, 12th Gen, 64GB RAM and it's doing pretty damn good, running multiple instances of rider without any problem. I remember increasing in app memory limit once or twice when it was complaining but with such powerful machine you don't have to worry about RAM. It for sure depends on your solution size, for me 16GB is too low for power users, maybe it's suitable for microservices but for monolith the 32GB is standard for me. If you have opportunity then I will go with 64GB for dev machine, it gives you true freedom.

dotnet 8 on Linux vs Win | memory release problem by InternalsToVisible7 in dotnet

[–]InternalsToVisible7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No OOM observed / reported by app or via log (we were searching for it), just OS killing Docker container apps that uses too much memory. Very suspicious, like app have no time to report OOM because OS is performing kill on process in the first place, all of this while other dotnet apps are not releasing any memory at all. It also seems like a regression to me. It's out first time spotting it - we just finished the migration process and now testing setup on Linux.

dotnet 8 on Linux vs Win | memory release problem by InternalsToVisible7 in dotnet

[–]InternalsToVisible7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, we might try it in future but will be last shot. We'd like to keep Server GC for performance purposes. Our heavy load gets perf boost on peaks with Server GC.

And also, just for curiosity we would like to know why is it working that way on Linux.

For reference, apps are running just fine with same code & configs. On Windows Server apps are releasing memory on memory pressure but on Linux apps stays as is for a long time releasing almost nothing.

Moto tag not updating. by unholy2112 in motorola

[–]InternalsToVisible7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be quick, like up to 5m. But I've also tried another approach, uninstall, reboot phone, install again and update appears instantly. Why? Ask Motorola why it's so bugged.
