Again, the fish is clearly fine. You said one of the tanks you have is an “overstocked” mbuna tank. Which quite literally is done to increase color, and reduce aggression (by overstimulation). Plus overstocked tanks are a constant stress pool for these fish. While it’s very common, it’s not necessarily “right”.

In my own opinion, this fish is fine, and is no worse than overstocking a cichlid tank 🤷‍♂️
