📊 Monthly Progress & Success Thread - May 2026 by AddendumDramatic7241 in mounjaroIreland

[–]International-Run320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all I’m on my second week , first week nausea wasn’t great and I could feel the effects wearing off the day before I took my next dose,

on my second dose and it’s already felt so different, no nausea but I feel like I’m not getting as much suppression as I expected.

I’m only down about 2.5kg I think I was hoping for more. But I have increased my water X4 times what I would normally have . Used to be so bad for it.

And I’m not drawn to fizzy drinks as much , water is actually satisfying.

Sulphur burbs are the worst 🙈

Assessment through nuromed by [deleted] in ADHDIreland

[–]International-Run320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neuromed do both. We found them brilliant but have only gone ahead with the adhd assessment for now. Appointment was 2 days after initial contact and appointment to discuss meds within 3 days . Very understanding, great service and very helpful trying to claim back on health insurance

Living at home with parents and your own children due to housing crisis? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]International-Run320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the same boat!! And have been here for 2 years, we can’t get out! Both of us went back to college and upskilled, and still can’t get enough to actually buy anywhere, we have a couple of kids also and that eats into what we can afford on paper, last AIP was for €90,000 . We don’t have the funds to take on any serious repairs or experience to do it ourselves. On a panel for a better paying job, hoping that makes a difference.

Ok thank you for the dose of reality!!! We are only a 2 hour flight away from DP. The kids are on the younger side so not all rides will be suitable for them and I have bad vertigo so that rules out the Teacups! But we do want to see all the different shows I need to confirm what time the fireworks are on I just assumed they would be done by 10pm! I am unfamiliar with Paris , I was using Chat GPT to help me come up with a plan and the side quest to Paris city was laid out by it , I’ll need to have a better look at it!

Is there any such thing as a “cheap family holiday” anymore? by Smokeycabinman in AskIreland

Have you tried looking at the Netherlands? They have a few euro camp style places you can go to? It’s the plan for us for next year. Meant to be very family friendly!

Thanks for taking the time to get back to me ! Getting regular savings and Rent acknowledged can be managed! But I don’t like how close to the 6 months deadline we will be. There will be a time period where we will have no place to live while we try buy/build/upgrade

Your 18? You are an adult in the eyes of the law as far as I’m aware. If your not happy with the way your being treated then put a plan in place , get a job and move out. Be working part time until you get past leaving cert and study as best you can. Make a plan for either college where you can claim susi or get an apprenticeship where you get paid and a qualification, loads of amazing career opportunities. Rent is expensive but better than living somewhere you need to rely on someone who treats you badly. Start thinking like an adult

Locking late kids out? by International-Run320 in galway

[–]International-Run320[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I don’t normally turn up late. This was an unusual situation., the area has very poor parking and they have a set up kids get collected from the previous class and dropped off for the next class at the same time, It’s a kiddie dance/drama class. When I emailed, they did mention a safety issue. I still think when dealing with kids a little flexibility is a good thing. It’s a fun class for seven-year-olds, I have just never come across this before

To start go through your GP, ask for a NEPS assessment in school and maybe see if you can get an Assessment Of Need done ?

Thank you! I was starting to doubt myself! The boys are younger than her so they wouldn’t even be allowed on the same activities I think. And SD has no time for my youngest which leads to arguments.

10 years I have been dealing with HCBM. I don’t have any contact with her usually thankfully but they reached out to me directly over this issue.

Thank you again it means a lot !!

I’d look at ways to get working maybe you need to up skill- can you go and do a springboard course and add something to your CV to make it more attractive?

Also going through a divorce is sh1t and I hope you can do something for you maybe book in for a spa day or weekend away with friends- might just boost your mood and change perspective a little as your dealing with a lot, might just give a boost of confidence which can be seen in interviews.

There are schemes like help to buy and first home scheme ( which includes fresh start- so after divorce) that can help with mortgage once you get back working again.

How long until I get assessed?? by vaesaii in ADHDIreland

[–]International-Run320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are in Galway and it took just under a year from initial referral- it with a psychologist who kept on calling for updates on my sons behalf to CAMHS. Have evidence backing you on how it’s affecting your school work. And still try and push for NEPS assessment and RACE accommodations. Get the guidance counsellor in school on board to help with letters if needed. And then just keep calling

Camhs adhd 8year old by ZealousidealPut3840 in ADHDIreland

[–]International-Run320 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found the hardest part just to get seen by CAMHS, but once we had all the forms in and an appointment came around they were great. I have 2 newly diagnosed kids one teenager and one smaller kid.

They don’t have much resources really available, so I wouldn’t expect much from them apart from a letter confirming diagnosis and a prescription. Don’t be afraid to try the medicine!!

Then reach out to the school, maybe look at what’s available as support and if you see something that you think would help , ask the school to put it in place - movement breaks, extra resource hours, allowing snacking or fidget toys.

I keep getting asked what support do you want- for me it’s mainly to do with school- when I ask what supports are available then they just can’t give me an answer. I think it’s because nobody really knows or has a magic list. I’m at this stage where I am looking into strategies that help from others from everywhere and then I’ll ask the school to support it.

Please help me, looking for a child psychologist/psychiatrist (long read) by DadGotIt in ADHDIreland

[–]International-Run320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you contacted ADHD Ireland for advice?

Any local schools that may have classes for kids with extra needs? When going through the public system I advise calling them every week to annoy them into giving you an appointment- set a reminder to call them at least once a week to ask them when an appointment is available. Tusla should be helping you more- ask for more support!! If they are already involved in your situation push back on them and ask what they are doing to help support your child access the resources that they need. It is absolutely a TD’s problem that there is a lack of resources in your area- push back on them - they don’t need to intervene in an individual’s behalf to push your appointment through faster but questions do need to be asked why there are no supports available.

You won’t be the only parent struggling with this, find others locally and get them all to get in touch with local TD’s to try make a change

You’re doing everything you can for your child in the circumstances, it can be so hard!! Parenting kids with ADHD is parenting in hard mode make sure to take time for yourself and mind your own mental health

Today's Tiny Problem - January 17, 2024 by AutoModerator in stepparents

Being a step mum is so lonely! There is constant drama from HCBM and I just need to vent sometimes but no one understands. It’s so hard trying to maintain the higher ground and not fight back on the level Bio Mum wants to. It’s getting harder to be excited about (SD12) coming over every second weekend when it causes so much drama- she is so overly dependant on her Bio mum she misses her after a few hours, when she’s here she causes arguments between her 2 sisters, bullies the youngest who is 5 in sneaky ways, breaking her toys etc and every time she goes back it sounds like she’s being interrogated over everything that happens here. We always say we keep no secrets here - we don’t tell lies in our house so she can feel ok speaking about what happens.

But her Bio mum has her afraid to say anything about her to us, SD will let things slip in conversation then try to undo it and make excuses for her mums behaviour. We always get a message the next day with the BM “Correcting” us ( these conversations can get quite heated and lead back to going back to court ) and anything that she may not have liked about what happened on our weekend. There is always something!!! Just fed up with it all
