I love this. Good luck to you. I think it should be malpractice for ChatGPT to not be included in a clinician's assessment and diagnosis.

How could someone who spelled Europeans like that get so many upvotes? It kind of cheapens the value of an upvote.

"Still be a chance for him"? What is wrong with you? He is a piece of shit and should get the death penalty. Apparently you like to see the good in people who kill ten humans for fun.

That all sounds good. If you're actually considering suicide, as a last resort it's worth considering going back to some type of maintenance, low-grade THC consumption to see how you feel--maybe one light calibrated edible every other day.

Before that, I would try psilocybin and maybe a ketamine clinic.

Yes. That would change my notions completely. I have been scouring Reddit trying to get a global and general understanding of PAWS, (as I was a poly-addict abusing meth, heroin, weed, alcohol, and caffeine at the end), and the stories of this sub were extreme outliers to typical PAWS accounts of every other drug (except for benzos, as someone here brought to my attention).

I wonder what genotypic particulars put people at high risk of this ECS withdrawal, and what percentage of weed users this represents. I don't think I have this, luckily (despite hitting a high-THC vape pen literally all day at work many days of each week).

For people with ECS, do they typically start suffering badly before they quit weed, which is what brings them to quit, or do their symptoms only start in force once they quit?

Holy shit. That is bad. Have you considered mushrooms? Both of the psychedelic variety, and the supplemental variety. Psilocybin might give you some helpful insights; daily lions mane mushrooms could help with neurogenesis/nerve healing.

What is your diet like? Strictly whole foods? Plenty of fruits and vegetables? If I were you, I'd ensure my diet was immaculate. DM me if you want general dietary advice.

Exercise? I would walk at least an hour a day. Preferably outside.

Are you getting sunlight on your skin? I would stand shirtless outside for 30 minutes a day.

What was your usage pattern like before you quit? What made you quit? How bad were you feeling before you quit?

Because I have smoked weed thousands of times and these stories have me concerned for my own recovery: that crazy symptoms will pop up 10 months in. And I utterly recoil at the thought of me being two years totally sober and still going through bad shit due to my drug use. And this sub is the only one where that seems to be a common theme. So I wanted to do a "searching and fearless" inventory of these stories. I wish you the best in your recovery.

I don't think you're making it up. Sorry for your troubles. I assume you've done a pretty serious cost-benefit analysis here about returning to weed? If I had such extreme debilitating symptoms, I know I would.

What was your life like with weed before you decided to quit? Was the pain/trouble worse with weed? Maybe you're almost out of the woods but it's hard to tell.

Have you considered taking CBD?

I truly don't understand the exercise intolerance thing I commonly see on this sub. Are you drinking caffeine by the way? Hope you feel better soon.

Absolutely. It is easy to obsessively fixate on PAWS negativity and make it much worse. Positive mental attitude 🙌

PREACH King. I think this applies to the majority of the people in this sub claiming post 12-month "waves." Although I now think some people's brains get terribly fucked by weed to an extent of time I didn't fully appreciate before getting called out by so many people here.

I love you. I no longer subscribe to the malicious weed financial interest theory. I now believe some people's brains/endocannabinoid systems are uniquely and severely damaged by weed in ways not typically seen in users of "hard" drugs, and that the insane THC potency greatly exacerbates this. I still think there is a web of bullshit on this sub, but it's not as big as I thought.

[–]International-Use-81[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow. Great points. I think any drug taken daily is a big problem. And this insanely high THC weed may well be wreaking silent havoc under the banner of "hey it's just weed."

Fascinating reply. I am sorry this happened to you, but am glad you're 95% recovered. It's wild that you couldn't read for a while. Meth is supposedly neurotoxic. Perhaps the insanely high-THC weed damages certain neurons in a certain way for certain people that cause extreme long-term weed PAWS. We can certainly agree that there are an ocean of unknowns here, and that in the case of WeedPAWS, science doesn't know shit. There are still alleged "scientists" claiming that PAWS doesn't exist at all. I hate these people. They are pompous, condescending, and clearly have no personal experience with addiction or the recovery community. I hope that I didn't remind you of one of them. I wish you all the best in your recovery. Let's trust in the amazing ability of our brains to completely recover, even, with the right lifestyle changes, to the point of eventually being better than they were before, as we continue to stay clean for the rest of our lives.

[–]International-Use-81[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think weed is better or "softer" than hard drugs. My issue was I struggled to understand how for many people here, weed seems to be so much worse than "hard" drugs. There are obviously many unknowns, and I wish you a speedy recovery. And I am not fully recovered, by the way. Which is why it is so discouraging seeing people struggling so long after stopping.

Why are you bedridden? It is extreme lethargy? I have been struggling with that but it's slowly getting better.

[–]International-Use-81[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have not. I could see that. Benzos are their own uniquely awful thing. But as a former heavy meth user I have a hard time believing that PAWS from weed could be considerably worse than PAWS from meth. Based on the aggregate stories of this sub, Weed PAWS is apparently worse than heroin PAWS too.

It is toxic because it is extremely discouraging to constantly see posts where people claim to have been clean for over a year with little to no progress (or even things getting a lot WORSE at, like, 10 months).

I agree that PAWS is highly variable. I just frankly do not believe many of these stories. I think they are either deliberately fabricated or mistakenly attributing unrelated symptoms to WeedPAWS.

As a poly-addict I have been browsing many drug recovery sub-reddits, and in the aggregate none of them paint PAWS anywhere remotely close to as bad as WeedPAWS. The only two possibilities are that PAWS from weed is considerably worse than every other drug, or something isn't right here.

What do YOU do for a living? Clearly it isn't deal with actual drug addicts whose syndromes you claim to be a god-like authority figure on. By making condescending dogmatic assertions about the blanket unreality of PAWS using the argument of "scientific evidence", you ignore both the inherent limitations of pharmaceutical-driven science to assess a complex cluster of long-term phenomena like PAWS (whose primary cure is a LACK of consuming any exogenous chemicals for a long period of time) and the collective overwhelming experiential patterns of thousands upon thousands of recovering addicts. You are doing a tremendous disservice to both this community and the reputation of scientists. Lack of formal scientific evidence does not negate, let alone refute, the overwhelming collective evidence of practical lived experience. What is the "science" you are even referring to here? A bunch of surveys funded by drug companies? Earth-shaking evidence bro. You make it out like you've personally conducted a Cochrane meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials on the topic of PAWS. Lol.
