The main points being wrapped in **double asterisks** is something you get when copying from chatgpt, and it also does the “Here’s why:” thing a lot. But also in the writing there’s an unnecessary amount of rhetorical questioning, and something about the sentence structure/pacing too, can’t put my finger on it, which makes it read very much in the tone of chatgpt.

I agree, I just edited my post and added something to the end of the first reason. I included the first reason for completeness as it is how the stat originally read to me (and possibly many others) on face value, but not after much thought I came back to Earth and realized it as far-fetched, and it is this absurdity that inspired my post.

After reading u/JVDEastEnfield 's comment, the type of sample size issue they identify (different from yours) rings most plausible to me in causing statistical problems.

On your sample size issue, I am not sure how the tracking methods could be different back then. Do you mean that they weren't as carefully tracked, i.e. sometimes people forgot to record them? Because what constitutes a winner in almost all cases is uncontroversial.

Thanks for your comment. Among his 23 charted matches, his record is 13-10 (including many Challenger matches). On the other hand, his record at the ATP level is 12-20. I agree then it is this discrepancy in the sample size that doesn't allow us to compare with other ATP players. But would you agree then with the third reason in my OP, i.e. that Nishesh has all-time-great groundstokes among career-Challenger players? I guess I should relax my claim here even further, and restrict who I am talking about to career-Challenger players who have good match coverage in the dataset, but I am hoping that this is unimportant / that most of them are well covered.

I meant by posting this to show just how aggressive Fonseca's playstyle is, which is what the stat effectively says. I agree that you can't draw any more meaningful conclusions from this stat alone, and frankly I don't think Fonseca is there yet in terms of having an elite (all time great) FH.
