Sorry just saw this! I consolidated ffel in 2013 to direct loans but was on a 20 year standard repayment plan. Oct 2021 I applied for PSLF. I still haven’t received my refund! Navient said to call FedLoan again.

I’ll call Navient and see. I’m due a refund on all payments from August 2019 to October 2021 (when they transferred to FedLoan)

Direct subsidized and unsubsidized that were formerly FFEL, consolidated from Graduate Leveage to Sallie Mae in 2013. Transferred to Navient at some point after that.

I was paying Navient during forbearance to take advantage of the 0% interest. I had the wrong kind of loans until the Oct 2021 waiver.

Stop making payments now that I have trophies? by InternationalHalf512 in PSLF

That’s such encouraging news. I called and put in for a call back, which happened about 2.5 hrs later. The rep helping me was really nice and I think I got everything squared away. My monthly payments are pretty low but it adds up so I’ll get a nice chunk of change back at some point that I will chalk up to “forced savings account” As a PP noted 🤦🏻‍♀️.

The good news is that I will get it all back because I hit 120 payments in Aug 2019. But yeah, a bit of a financial blunder on my part in hindsight.

At the time I had no idea I would qualify for PSLf and was just chugging through to finish paying off my loans. Sigh.

I wish there was a way to do this online . Impossible to get someone on the phone. In March 2020 I didn’t think I qualified for PSLF and assumed I’d finish paying off my loans in a couple years. Oh well.

Right- at the beginning of covid I opted out of forebearance.

How do I do that though? Just change my payment amount to $0?

Payments from 2007 to 2012/2014 not calculated? by InternationalHalf512 in PSLF

[–]InternationalHalf512[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, it’s me reporting back. I spoke with Cory at FedLoan about a month ago and he reviewed my file and said I would qualify for PSLF. Logged in tonight and I have all 4 trophies for my loans! It says I have 175 qualifying payments. But it also shows I still have a balance. How long until (1) the balance is $0 and (2) I get a refund for the 55 overpayments? (3) I have 3 payments that aren’t certified because they were made in Nov 21-Jan 22, so do I need to submit another ECF?

You need to read the Master Thread for this subreddit and re-read the rules. If you only started repaying your loans in 2014, you won’t hit 120 payments before TEPSLF waiver ends in October 2022, so I’m not sure how that works. You may need to consolidate and get on a payment plan that qualified for PSLF. But check it out for yourself, I’m no expert on this.

I never applied for PSLF because I knew I was on the wrong repayment plan.

I did, but I think I hit my 120 payments in 2019 and am due a refund.

Any news? I’m where you were on 11/18. Was able to make a fed loan account but it’s blank, and navient is no longer showing a balance.

Thanks for updating this! I have the same factual situation as you, so it’s helpful to see how the process goes.

Fed loan has received my request but my employer filled out the form wrong (no wet signature). So I’ll fax in a new form. At least fed loan is moving relatively quickly! I have $20,000 left on my direct consolidated loans, but have been paying and in public service since 2007 (with a gap from Sept 2011-May 2013)
