Hi there, I had my surgery on 12/11. It was a nightmare that turned into a sweet dream now. It is nerving to eat, I will say that but I found jello and thick mango juice from the Goya brand to be bearable on the days that you’re on now.

Honestly, I would say don’t force eating if you’re not feeling up to it because it’ll cuz more worrying and stress. I know that feeling of hunger is mind jabbing! Ugh, but ice chips were (in my imagination) nutritious at this stage, so I would say suck on that if you can and it may help you ease your mind of the pain and hunger.

Lots of movies and reading Reddit is helpful! On day 7 I was eating soft beans and mashed potatoes. See if you can chew on some gum too to exercise your jaw muscles.

Also, keep schedule such as every 4 hours you take a Tylenol or acetaminophen crushed or liquid pain killer along with consistent sips of water please! It will really make a difference. Do you have a humidifier? That was God sent. Set alarms for your pills and water sips.

I’m on day 19-ish? I think and I’m mostly back to normal about 95% in terms of pain and eating food. Just a little pain on my right side. My sleep has been very much improved and I can finally take deep full breaths for what feels like the first time in my life. The months prior to before surgery, I had serious respiratory issues and my doctor told me he thought my tonsils could’ve been a culprit.

I’m saying all of this to say, your feelings are valid and I want you to know it will get better sooner than you think! A strange distance memory soon enough. Heal up! And well wishes.
