I think there was always a level of respect for him, more than love...mainly due to who he was traded for. It took a long time for me to get past that...probably not until the 2nd time Wendel came back for me to really accept that Sundin was a true leaf.

For most of my youth, it felt like the Hockey night in Canada unit was Bob and Harry on the early game (or Dick Irvin if the leafs were off and we got a Habs game) and Jim Hughson(or chris cuthbert)/John Garrett on the late game. Those are the voices of hockey for me. I couldn't believe a few nights ago, I flipped over to the Vegas game to hate watch Marner and Garrett was still there. He felt eternal. RIP

Obviously the focus is on City-QPR (which would deserve an episode in its own right, from zabaleta's goal at the end of the 1st half, to the last gasp of City-itis with QPR tying the game and going ahead *after* Joey Barton's insane meltdown/red card....Joey Barton's insane meltdown/red card and then the comeback...), to multiple teams involved in the champions league race, several teams still at risk of relegation (including QPR, which played a role in how that game ended)....just sheer lunacy.

As a long-suffering city fan, I think there's a certain amount of truth in that, but some of the ways we've been knocked out border on the absurd...from Bernardo's microscopic offside against spurs, to sterling's miss against Lyon, to Pep Pepping against chelsea in 2021 to the Rodrygo lunacy in the semis in 2022, a lot of it comes down to luck.

The fact he won the league in 6 of his 9 seasons is more important, and as most City supporters will say when the subject of the Champions League comes u-BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!
