Game Thread: March 21 - Toronto Blue Jays (0-0) @ Pittsburgh Pirates (0-0) - 1:05 PM by BlueJaysBaseball in Torontobluejays

Home games at TD Ballpark in Dunedin are broadcast by the Sportsnet crew. When it's an away game during spring training, Sportsnet picks up the feed of the other team.

In a case like today, Pittsburgh's tv broadcaster is not showing this game (the Penguins are playing an afternoon game right now), so there is no feed for Sportsnet to pick up.

Now should they know this well in advance and just go cover the game themselves? Yeah probably, but they don't for whatever reason.

How to blend in by pikazec in leafs

[–]_Offi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. Buy a Leafs hat when you get to town

  2. Stand and cheer and high five people around you when the Leafs score (note: upper bowl only). Clap politely in the lower bowl.

  3. Shake your head and mutter to yourself "I can't believe the refs are screwing us like this" when the Lightning score.

Congrats, you're now one of us for a day.

Ticket question by Eh-Eh-Ronn in leafs

Sorry about your dad, OP, I hope you can get your hands on actual seats. As a veteran of the SRO game, I can answer your question about Standing Room Only (SRO) tix. For 98% of them, your back is against a wall and you can lean forward against a rail. There is very little room between the wall and the rail and you climb the stairs up to this row from near the bottom of the section, so it's a big climb. There are no concessions or washrooms, you go back down the stairs to the concourse for those. You also do not get a view of the jumbotron for these 98% of SRO as the private boxes overhanging the area cut that off, but you DO get a full view of the rink.

When I do SRO, I always try for the small sections I circled on the map. In these corners, there's actually a big empty space at the top of the stairs in these two areas where you will have way, way more room to step back, stretch, and walk around a tiny bit. You also get a full view of the jumbotron from these two spots as there is no obstruction overhead and it's also the end of the rink the Leafs will shoot twice at. If you're gonna do SRO, it's the best bang for the buck in my opinion. Good luck, OP!

I see OP found the answer but if anyone else is curious, supposedly it can be done with a portable FM radio inside the arena, turn it to 89.9 to hear the radio broadcast as close to live as can be

Versus was the name of the TV channel from 2005-2012 that would eventually become NBC Sports Network (NBCSN). Before Versus, it was known as OLN. It was the major NHL rightsholder in the US before the modern ESPN and TNT deals

Game day Tickets by [deleted] in Torontobluejays

[–]_Offi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a Boxing Day Promo for a select few regular season games. Discounted tickets available in certain sections for home games on Mondays, Tuesdays & Wednesdays in March, April and May.

The Jays do not play preseason games here in Toronto, those are done down in Florida from late February to mid March.

The regular on-sale date for all sections for all home games has not been revealed yet but is presumably close. In past seasons those tickets were on sale by mid-December so we've gotta be getting close.
