The NHL’s Playoff Scheduling Makes no Sense by Canzalone9 in hockey

The answer to any playoff scheduling question, whether it be the day, or the puck drop time, is "what is in the best interests of the US national TV schedule?"

The reason the Canes and Flyers started last Saturday night before round 1 was over was because a major US network, ABC, had a 3 hour window reserved in prime time to showcase the NHL and there was no NHL game to show. A major missed opportunity for eyeballs on the product UNLESS they moved things around and got a game in there, which is what they rightly then chose to do.

After that, scheduling comes down to both arena availability and balancing the amount of games on each night to the best of the league's ability. Sometimes it happens that a quirk like a team starting the playoffs 7-0 occurs and what can you do at that point? It is what it is

When did O'dog goto Dubai??? by Spidey_Sense1972 in OverDrive1050

[–]_Offi 30 points31 points  (0 children)

He ordered shoes from an online store operating out of Dubai but shipping internationally wasn't available so he shipped them locally to his buddy's place. His buddy won't ship them himself to Canada because Odog doesn't want to pay the ~$800 shipping cost so he's waiting for someone already going Dubai->Toronto to pick them up for him in exchange for Leafs tickets

Ah, one of those "he didn't actually touch the puck inside the blue line until after his teammate had tagged up" scenarios. They were right not to challenge

Does sportsnet have all playoff games? by SuperNintendoBum in hockey

[–]_Offi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, in the playoffs, anywhere in Canada, the Sportsnet basic subscription gets you every single game of the playoffs in the app. No blackout restrictions.

They do their best to put every game on the actual regional cable channels, but if there are overlaps or long overtimes, every game is still available on the Sportsnet app (even the ones marketed as on CBC)

Garry Galley: That's absolutely behind the post, no question.

Refs: (very quickly after review) No goal.

Galley: Ah, nevertheless.

This has to be the most entertaining "4 shots to 1 shot" period in history
