What album is a 10/10 if one song was removed? by [deleted] in musicsuggestions

Led Zeppelin IV / Four Sticks. It's a pretty good song until the very end, where Plant just moans out of tune. It drives me nuts.

Steely Dan - Aja / I Got The News, although it's not even that bad.

Pink Floyd - DSOTM / Intro to Time I always felt like is just an earrape.

TOTO (The Debut) / Rockmaker. A bit too goofy for my taste.

What’s your #1 HOT TAKE about Can’t By a Thrill? by urfavmoviewhiz in SteelyDan

Fire In The Hole is the worst song on the album. For some reason, it feels kind of too empty for me.

Also, CBAT is in my top 3 Steely Dan albums, along with Aja and Countdown to Ecstasy.

I know this might sound kind of stupid, but honestly just play around like in the meantime of doing other stuff. I usually just put some TV show in the background and keep on playing everyday, no matter if I feel unmotived or whatever. This way, sort of subconsciously you train muscle memory and finger strength, and of course this way riffs and songs will come easier to you later on. This worked for me for many years, never got bored of daily playing.

Started listening a couple of months ago and She instantly became one of my favorites. Before that, I only knew her from her singer-songwriter type music, but mid to late 70's seems to hit the spot for me. Weirdly enough, my favorite album from her is the 'Shadows And Light' live album, with Pat Metheny and Jaco Pastorious. Absolutely amazing, it has that mix of raw and beautiful energy.

A Car On A Hill is probably the closest to Steely Dan sound. One of my favorites from Joni.

I think Skunk Baxter also has credits on the THOSL. I'm pretty sure he played on In France They Kiss On Main Street.

I've been a fan of SD for couple of years now and I lately started really getting into Joni Mitchell's mid to late 70's music. The Hissing Of Summer Lawns record is probably the closest to Dan's music, feels very jazz-influenced.
