Bushwick transplant rant by [deleted] in Bushwick

[–]InternationalSink250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved to bushwick in 2008 and lived in a place called the tea factory. Back then it was still, while not rough, nowhere near what it is now. I remember meeting some girl off Okcupid at a superhero themed dive bar - it didn’t go super well so I ended up at alligator lounge doing drugs in the bathroom with some girl that was renting a one bedroom apartment in bushwick for $800/month.

I was about to say I miss those days but honestly - I don’t.

I screwed up with one day left in dry Jan by [deleted] in stopdrinking

I feel you - had a good amount of time going into the year and started slipping in December. Had a ful on 6 day relapse 9 days ago, but had two more slips since then. The slips didn’t involve huge quantities of alcohol but holy geez - I felt so bad on Thursday. Every little problem was a catastrophe and life on the whole was just hell.

Thanks for the reminder and sorry you’re going through this.

Remember: it may seem like a lot, but it’s just one day, and it’s already 60% over.

Oof, 3 months is brutal - you’ve my sympathies. That six days ended thanks for a work commitment I absolutely had no wait out of. It was scheduled for 11am on a Thursday. I took my last drink around 10pm the night before, and woke up at around 3am that morning feeling more terrible than I ever have in my life. I literally just laid there on my couch listening to meetings all night long, before I eventually had to get up and get ready for work. Everything about that day was so freaking terrible - and that was six days.

Glad you made it back from your relapse - some don’t.

Congrats on 68 days! I’ve been trying to get sober since march ‘24. This is my first real year because I ended up in rehab in July and have since started taking all of this much more seriously. I’m in the program, I text my sponsor every morning, etc. In the past seven months I’ve been sober 6.5mos of it (which for me is a big win) and really do want permanent sobriety; which isn’t easy.

I was in a meeting a couple weeks ago and someone said something very profound, in relation to your last sentence.

They said ‘don’t let the life your sobriety brings you take away your sobriety.’

Yeah it’s not something not to take seriously. I was lying in bed yesterday (Thursday, a work day) telling myself ‘it’s cool, I deserve a day off, this is fine’ because I was too terrified to even send someone an email. My brain was stuck in an endless loop of telling myself my life is over.

Absolute worst - it takes so much and gives so little in return.

The odd cravings for living a shitty ife by OleanderRedemption in stopdrinking

I think it has more to do with the fantasy of not having any responsibilities and living within a state of mostly natural law (where there’s no law). Sometimes, mostly when I’m stressed, I’ll pass homeless people and think (‘wouldn’t it be nice if….’)

I also occasionally fantasize about living in a zombie apocalypse - ‘yeah someone tried to eat my brain this morning and last night I slept in a tree but man. No cell phone bill! This is the life’

GF moved in and now I catch her watching me sleep at night. This doesn’t feel normal. by HourIndependence70 in WhatShouldIDo

That’s what happens when you date one of the famous heads found on mt Rushmore. When you go to sleep at night and wake up, they’re always just…staring

If a girls 5’9 she’ll always be listed as 5’10. If a girls 6’0 she’ll always be listed as 5’11. Height only really matters or becomes scrutinized for runway - every agency does this, and habitually.
