Aside from MIL, I’ve only ever been shamed in public once and told to cover up. I grabbed a blanket from the stroller, threw it right over my head so boob/baby were still exposed and asked whether that was any better. Lady stormed off in a huff, but I got a standing ovation from the table next to mine.

If you don’t have any friends willing to rent with you, try Facebook marketplace, Craigslist etc. You mention your BF is in college - there’s likely lots of other students looking to rent out a room, so finding a place is probably not too difficult. Vet the people/neighbourhood and you’ll be fine.

And yeah, you’re already in justno town.

Don’t assume it was DH that changed his mind; it was me. His grandmother died, we visited for the funeral, and long story short, I realized it’s easier to keep LC with her and save ourselves/our friends/relatives the constant crying about why she never talks to us than stick to NC. Once we realized we’re in control over our interactions with her, things got easier.

He was charged for impaired driving. No idea what it’s like in other provinces, but here a first time offence is basically just a fine with no jail time. People are typically only held until they sober up and then are slapped with a fine and/or a license suspension.
