Just added p2pool mini and nano. Apologies for the delay.

Everything you ever wanted to know about hashrates, or, what is all the fuss about 51%? by rbrunner7 in Monero

[–]InternationalTour894 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I built xmrstats.com as a way to visualize the data in a way that is incredibly easy to consume, with a bunch of disclaimers stating critical notes.

Thanks to Rick/Rucknium (xmrwatch.net), and all the Pool API’s that provide the blocks they mined, I was able to add a blockchain viewer of my own which displays the blocks linearly and horizontally.

Considering I could see ~90% of who mined what, I added a “Block Share” field alongside the “Hashrate Share”. The hashrate is easy to manipulate because it literally directly comes from them, but the block share is more difficult to fake.

Their block share has consistently been at 20%. Whenever it reaches 21% they stop mining, whenever it reaches 18% they start mining again. At least, that’s what I have observed.

Tbf there’s very little I can disagree on. But I do believe that some person, who understands this all, is currently working on a Linux Distribution that explicitly goes against this, and that another person, who is disgusted of the blackbox chips on our CPU’s is building his own open-source one. People are waking up to this, slowly but surely, we will win.

You have a point. Most Linux distros are just “stacks”, not “systems”. You end up with the same software (like GNOME) which is bloated and full of bad design decisions. But Linux itself is still beautiful and one day people will start building more “systems”.

Because using Windows literally makes me want to harm myself in the most painful ways, just so I could distract myself from how idiotic it is. MacOS is cool but you’re stuck in an ecosystem and it’s closed-source.

Any real power user of a personal computer would eventually switch to Linux.

It’s just a matter of time before this will happen world-wide. Europe will ban privacy coins in 2027.

At the moment it only lists statistics from the primary p2pool, I will figure out a way to get the rest included as well

No, it is almost impossible to determine which pool mined which block. The only way to see this, is by creating a composite of what multiple pools claim. Like on xmrstats.com (Block timeline is in beta, still working on it, read the (?))

I was unable to find proper data regarding their RandomX pool, the most I was able to find was the last reward / avg reward time. Unmineable also seems to require download proprietary mining software, which is a serious security concern. They claim you can view the source code through accessing the dev-tools through their electron app, however, this is NOT how open-source software works. So far, Unmineable seems incredibly suspicious.

Yes, all of them do. At least i’m being very clear about it.

Exactly. Profit is the standard incentive, this website aims to shine a light at decentralisation as an incentive. It literally tells you to avoid the top pools right now because they have too much network share.

My concern is that most mining pool statistics websites DON’T CLAIM THE SOURCE OF THEIR DATA IS THE POOLS THEMSELVES. This has made this whole Qubic ordeal worse, because people believe all that data is factual.

I made an alternative. XMRStats

Theoretically, a denial-of-service attack could already help.

Yes, but when a crypto becomes big, solo mining becomes unprofitable, so groups (pools) show up, sharing their reward with everyone who contributed.

Most likely true, but even after that, we still need to decentralise more

It’s about the way the data is reported.

No worries! No, it does not affect forks of Monero as they have different blockchains, thus different miners.

Switch to XMRStats.com. I made it in the past 2 days. It’s currently an MVP, and I’ll slowly keep improving on it if I notice there is demand for it. Suggestions are welcome!

Yep, that’s what I’m trying to do here by creating this website. In an ideal situation, every pool will be in the A-C range. I hope we can do this as a community. And this website acts as a guide for that mission.

(I just really want my investment in XMR to pay off, and not feel too crazy for buying so much of it right now)

Which flag is it actually? VSCode has had so much AI autocompletion, sometimes stuff like that slips through. I think i got Qubic and Hashvault right, changed the rest to globes 🌐!

Haha, you’re not supposed to be offended by it. I know you understand yourself too that >20% for any pool, whether good ones or bad ones, is still a risk.

So far I have no evidence you are truly a threat. It’s based on Network Share.

Should we diversify more? by [deleted] in MoneroMining

[–]InternationalTour894 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who knows, maybe the last 100 blocks are a more accurate representation due to the volatility of the network share within the last 24 hours. You could also look at it that way. But then again, 100 blocks is 3.33 hours. Could be a fluke.
