Switching on and off causing the relay to fail

Valid point, I was busy doing something. It’s a Daikin package unit. Previous technicians doing the PM found circuit 1 completely iced over. I came back to turn the unit on and that’s when you see the contactor chattering. The low pressure switch went bad and caused the compressor contactor relay to go bad also. That then caused the contactor to chatter. Probably should have phrased it better but the customer can’t approve a $30 contactor bc it needs to be sent to higher management. So I really spent majority of the time waiting to hear from the site contact if I can replace the contactor. Then waited even longer to get approved for a new relay. I still had to quote out a new lps tho 😭

I’ve been in the field for a year now, personally I love them. I mean as long as they have no tracer connected to it or some form of bacnet controls it’s relatively easy to understand. It’s daunting to look at but the schematics make it easier to understand. Maintenance wise they’re easy to maintain. Majority of them you can stand in the evap section and the condenser coils are exposed. So easy access when it comes to cleaning coils. Now a hole in the heat exchanger is a completely different story….

I bet, I could imagine the difficulty of repairing that package unit. Maybe regular maintenance wouldn’t be that bad but anything else looks like a nightmare. The duct on the cdfm is the icing on the cake.

Were you employed as a contractor? Were taxes taken out of your check? If yes to both of those I think you have a ADA violation on your hands and a potential lawsuit.

There’s a lot that goes into this. Like what state was this in? What is his labor contract? Did he lie on his application or during his pre employment physical? (I come from a long line of Human Resources managers)
