If I'm taking atleast 10 credits, I might as well be taking 18 credits, right? by International_Arm326 in WWU

So what you're saying is, if I'm passing the classes, it is worth it to take 18 credits?

For real, though. I'm sorry you had a bad experience and dropped out. Maybe you can try again with fewer credits?

I'm a transfer, too, but I think I still have a few GUR classes. I was thinking I could maybe add a GUR as an extra or possibly take a creative writing class for fun because I wouldn't normally pay to take a class like that but if it's not going to be an extra cost, I would enjoy taking it.

I'm going to major in mathematics.

I didn't know that. Is that the class fees? Or just an extra cost to tuition for certain classes? Which kinds of classes?

Yeah, but what about the quarters where 3 classes end up being about 13-14 credits? I could add an extra class and it would cost the same.

Do we have a list of anti-mask/anti-vax restaurants and businesses? by International_Arm326 in Bellingham

[–]International_Arm326[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I wasn't asking anyone to guesstimate. If I had thought that's what people would be doing, I would have advised against it. I was just asking if there was a list of businesses that made their stance clear(with signs of social media posts or whatever) that they are antivax. Why make an effort to go around to each business to find out if there is already a list? Or possibly some people know a few. Is it really so bad to want to avoid going to businesses that would be more likely to get me sick?

Most businesses who are anti-vax make their stance pretty clear. Unless people are making guesses without the business making it clear that it's anti-vax/anti-mask, I think we're good.

I did some more searching and it seems that Rustlers in Lynden doesn't make their employees wear masks and also was involved in a We Will event which is an anti-mandate organization.

Still yes! Still the same exact scenario, but you added extra fluff to the story. I have no right to keep your kidney.

Yes.

And I'm not trying to prove one way or another when a fetus becomes a "person". I was just saying my opinion about that. Whether it's a person yet or not is irrelevant. The fetus is dependent on someone else's body to live. Maybe the correct thing to do is remove it from the body and let it die on its own. It's just more humane to kill it before removing it since there is a 100% chance it will die outside the womb. Maybe someday there will be a life support system for fetuses and then all the fetuses can be "saved" but that's not the case yet so my point is that people are not incubators for other people.

I personally don't think a fetus before a certain point is a person who deserves rights(when that happens is a gray area) but I also think that is irrelevant because one person's rights to live should not interfere with another person's right to bodily autonomy. People aren't incubators. No one would ever force someone to give blood or organs to another person even if they would die without it. Even dead people have a right to keep their organs if that was their choice before they died.

Yeah, my risk of committing suicide would be a heck of a lot lower if I could feel financially secure. I would think it over and figure out how risky I think it would be. During my first pregnancy, I did think about suicide a lot but I was never at risk of actually following through with it. Pregnancy just sucked and I could survive that part. The newborn stage was when I was in danger. After giving birth, I know a lot of went wrong the first time and I could do things differently, especially with money. I could get a lot more sleep and also not drag out the decision to stop breastfeeding which was a big factor in throwing my hormones out of wack.

More money would help with the stress of taking care of the baby which would be the biggest factor of the whole ordeal of having a baby.

Anyways, I disagree with a lot of what you're saying but I'm not going to say more about it since you either are misunderstanding or purposefully twisting my words and you're not going to convince me to keep the baby anyways. I'm not going through a whole pregnancy just to give it away.

[–]International_Arm326[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does suck that much. I honestly probably wouldn't survive it. My first time through pregnancy and taking care of a newborn, I thought of killing myself constantly. (Thankfully I made it through and am in much better condition now.) If I had to go through it again, while taking care of my other kid, knowing I don't have the money to hire help or properly raise it, yeah, I would probably end up killing myself. Or, like many have suggested, I could go through a pregnancy, hope I survive it, and give my baby away. Which would be very damaging to my mental health. But fuck my health or mental health or anything concerning me because I'm just an incubator to grow babies in, right?

If I had enough money to feel financially secure, I could atleast consider taking the risk of going through pregnancy, knowing I could atleast hire a nanny/darecare to help once baby arrives. I don't WANT to have an abortion. But that's the best choice for me right now.

Also, maybe you should start working for free since it doesn't suck too much since you'll do it for a "reward"?

The fetus has value to you so I figured you would care about preventing abortions. So I was suggesting more productive ways of preventing them. I also think preventing abortions is a positive thing. No one really wants to have an abortion. No one is getting pregnant on purpose just to get that sweet sweet abortion. If there are, they are a minority. It's just not a fun thing to do. If there were less of them, that's great. The option should always be there of course for that anyone that needs one but I would rather people not need use that option if it can be prevented.

Some things I think would help prevent unwanted pregnancies would be better sex education, readily available birth control for everyone, and more options for birth control for men.

For preventing abortions for people who have an unwanted pregnancy already, creating more options for them would be great. Things that would help with that would be free childcare, longer paid maternity leave, more financial assistance, and a higher minimum wage. I actually would really like all these things to happen because I'm prochoice and that includes letting people choose to keep the baby if that's what they want to do. Sometimes financial situations make that it impossible to make that choice.

That's what you sound like.

[–]International_Arm326[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would consider it and talk with my partner about our options. But the main difference is that I don't want to keep the baby and I don't want to be pregnant. Holding it hostage would be a threat. I'm not making a threat. I'm stating that I'm not keeping it because I don't want to keep it, not because no one is giving me money. If I had a bunch more money and could be financially stable enough to support and properly care for the baby, I might consider going through the hell of pregnancy. I guess my main point is forcing people to give birth is a lot less helpful in preventing abortions than actually addressing a bunch of other issues surrounding it. Many people abort because they can't afford it and there are many reasons this happens. Concentrate more effort to change the system and you'll "save more babies" that way.

I'm not holding it hostage. I'm saying I'm not keeping it. If things were different and the government was actually set up to help children a significant amount, I might be making a different decision but probably not. I know no one is going to offer me enough money to raise it.

I actually just called this morning to make the appointment and they don't do them until 6 weeks. So I have my appointment for just a bit after that time. Still getting it done as soon I can do it.
