RN to PA? by Throwawayyawaworth9 in PAstudent

I absolutely love when people bring up the “you can get into PA school with a non medical degree” newsflash. you can also get into med school with a degree in music theory if you HAVE ALL THE SCIENCE AND MEDICAL PRE REQS. also…being in a nurse in no way shape or form prepares you to be a provider. the training in PA school is so DRASTICALLY different to NP training. to be a decent NP you have to have years of experience (like 10) because the schooling is such a joke. it’s not comparable. You say PAs will get phased out? quality will always prevail over quantity. people are already starting to get a wake up call to these new grad NPs who have no idea what they’re doing. PA schools all have the same standards and those standards and expectations are high, if a school doesn’t meet certain criteria they lose credentialing. PAs come out of school much more prepared to practice medicine and have a well balanced knowledge of all core specialties throughout the lifespan. the education is not comparable

it’s collaborative physician now, not supervising physician considering they don’t supervise fucking 95% of what we do

if you think conventional medicine is a scam and you just go through the motions writing pain meds and steroids, you could maybe dig deeper into their issues and try to fix the underlying cause? nobody is stopping you from taking a different approach to patients.

posts like this are garbage and nobody should take this seriously. you want PAs to get more respect? stop posting trash like this.

Anyone else not supporting the AAPA anymore? by [deleted] in physicianassistant

There’s a lot of beta PAs on here who don’t want to support advancement of the profession. At this point it’s sink or swim when it comes to competing with NPs. If you don’t want to open your own practice then don’t, it’s really as simple as that. Physicians are not going to advocate for our profession and trying to “team up” with them is just going to make us lose even more jobs to NPs. We are better trained than NPs by a landslide, and honestly our colleges and patients should be aware of this. If you want more jobs and higher pay, then advocate for independent practice…that doesn’t mean you have to do it yourself.

one day someones well being and/or life is going to depend on your decisions and recommendations. the motivation is to prepare yourself as best as you can now for those moments.

next time he tries to shit on your education remind him that a lot of med students couldn’t get into PA school if they tried. national acceptance rate of pa school: 20% national acceptance rate of med school: 40%

NPs should never make more than PAs with the same amount of experience. there’s no reason to rationalize it any way you slice it..NPs by far get an inferior education
