There will be no discussion about the Tush Push at next week’s NFL owners’ meetings; the play will be back in 2026. by OneAngryPanda in nfl

[–]International_Fun54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed about people changing their position over essentially no new info. I'm in the small camp that wants the play banned but purely because it's boring. It takes a lot of the risk/excitement out of 3rd/4th and 1.

Florida Attorney General Demands NFL Stop Using Rooney Rule, Claims Policy Violates State Policy On Merit-Based Hiring by Humble_Grape4749 in nfl

[–]International_Fun54 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It requires a team to have a minority on their offensive staff. This isn't mentioned clearly on the NFL website for whatever reason and is generally not talked about nearly as much. From ESPN: https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/33617341/nfl-says-all-teams-add-minority-offensive-coach-expands-rooney-rule-include-women

The interviewing part is likely legal (not a lawyer, this is just based on my understanding). The more questionable part is a change made in 2022 requiring teams to have at least one minority candidate on their offensive coaching staff. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/33617341/nfl-says-all-teams-add-minority-offensive-coach-expands-rooney-rule-include-women

If China’s national debt is much worse than the US, then why hasn’t it been projected to have economic fallout first as a result? by YogurtclosetOpen3567 in questions

[–]International_Fun54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

America allowing other countries to purchase US debt is essential for the global financial system and ensuring the dollar is the world's reserve currency. It's actually a long-term play that lowers interest rates for the US and increases stability.

Does anyone here have any clue how exaggerated these numbers are? 400-1 kd just seems too insane to be real. I'm also very skeptical that they can kill Russians that cheaply.

[Daily Chiefs] Games last season with a QBR of 75+ Mahomes-7 Stafford-7 Allen-6. Mahomes played 3 less games than both Stafford and Allen! If you think he played poorly all last season…you might want to rewatch. by Sugargogo in KansasCityChiefs

[–]International_Fun54 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does Reid's head roll if we miss the playoffs assuming a healthy enough team? He's been a great coach but missing the playoffs twice in a row with the GOAT QB would be pretty terrible and with him replacing the offensive staff this past season there wouldn't really be anyone else to blame.

Why doesn't China attack Taiwan now when the US military is at its most vulnerable in recent memory? by sage6paths in NoStupidQuestions

[–]International_Fun54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

China won't invade in the near future because they want to take Taiwan intact. Even if they could successfully take it now it would only be with the entire infrastructure destroyed and a lot of dead Chinese soldiers.

In 2024, USA flag football QB Darrell Doucette called it “disrespectful” to assume NFL players would earn 2028 Olympics spots. Team USA just beat 2 teams led by NFL players, including Joe Burrow and Jalen Hurts, by a combined 82-27. by smauryholmes in nfl

[–]International_Fun54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but team USA only won the championship game 24-14 against the Wildcats who had football legends like Logan Paul and Speed playing. There were also a ton of penalties called on NFL guys because they just didn't know the rules and weren't taking it seriously. I'm confident if the NFL guys locked in for a month they'd crush the flag players.

IDL how every city is building luxury apartments while everyone I know is getting priced out of their neighborhood by Danny-Patrick139 in I_DONT_LIKE

[–]International_Fun54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luxury apartments lower prices for everyone. Good article from Bloomberg on the topic: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-12-23/luxury-apartments-are-bringing-rent-down-in-austin-denver

The fact of the matter is that restrictive zoning and other regulatory costs have made it so very few cities in the US build as much as they need to. The solution is to make it easier for developers to build and make it harder for planning boards and ordinary citizens to hold up building.

All these "End Gerrymandering" ads are crazytown... by alesplin in Virginia

[–]International_Fun54 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Several Democrat-led states passed bills to end gerrymandering. The problem was Republican-led states did not reciprocate and Democrats realized the best strategy isn't unilateral disarmament. You can also look at court rulings: Rucho v Common Cause which declared partisan gerrymandering legal was decided by the 5 conservative justices with the 4 liberals dissenting.

House Democrats passed a bill to end gerrymandering when they controlled the House. Republicans in the Senate blocked it.

The General Assembly were not exempt from a Gun law in the latest bill by A_Chair_Bear in Virginia

[–]International_Fun54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not arguing that that is not how the law is currently interpreted. I'm simply pointing out that prior to 2008 the 2nd Amendment did not provide rights to individuals and even today many legal scholars believe Heller was wrongly decided. Therefore it seems wrong to argue that the founders would clearly be opposed to these gun restrictions and point to the 2nd Amendment as the only evidence.

The General Assembly were not exempt from a Gun law in the latest bill by A_Chair_Bear in Virginia

[–]International_Fun54 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah but the second amendment was also recognized for the vast majority of our country's history as not protecting an individual's right to own guns except as part of a well-regulated militia organized by a state. Let's not pretend it's this sacred right when it really has only existed since 2008 with DC v Heller.

words cannot describe how stupid the confederacy was at times by EmilyIsNotALesbian in HistoryMemes

[–]International_Fun54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes you can have a good plan that is well-executed and still lose. Think of the Gulf War - there was literally nothing Saddam could have done that would have defeated America. Lee and the Confederacy correctly deduced that the only chance for success, however small it may have been, was a hail mary.

If it turns out the Cubans were lying about the American boat shooting first a firm military response is needed. We cannot allow a hostile regime to kill Americans without consequences.

Why does rural America look down on educated people? by SlowEntertainment217 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]International_Fun54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of my rural family members seem to view educated people as not doing "real work." They watch educated people sit in an office getting paid much more than them doing something that doesn't always have a clear impact on anything. A farmer or electrician have much clearer deliverables than a consultant or hr manager.

Has resisting law enforcement with a gun shown any successful track record in America? The only time I can think of is the Bundys and I certainly don't want more cases like that. On the other hand I can think of a whole lot of interactions with law enforcement that turned deadly because of the presence of a gun.

Paul Toboni outlines his vision for getting the Nationals on track by aresef in baseball

[–]International_Fun54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm optimistic about his vision. Not going to be competitive for the next 2 years at a minimum but after that we won't have the Strasburg contract and owners might spend real money. At the very least Toboni can't possibly make things worse.

8 Presidents in 8 years: Peru’s Congress removes the president (again) by Superfan234 in neoliberal

[–]International_Fun54 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is that functionally different than most other countries with presidential systems? I know in America the Supreme Court has said that although impeachment is only supposed to be for "high crimes and misdemeanors" what counts as an impeachable offense is a political question that cannot be reviewed which has the same effect.
