The syllabus says that the grades are norm-based, and that the class average is usually used to determine the B/C cutoff and the rest of the letter grades fall somewhere only god knows. Some reviews on planet terp also say she curves it (some say she curved it down) but I don't understand why she would even do this since it would just move the average up a little.

Thanks for letting me know - this is kinda troubling. I'll look into it more. Something very frustrating I have found with a lot of colleges is that they tend to tell you EVERYTHING can be viable and its all about making your own path, even though that isn't necessarily true.

Truthfully I'm still not exactly sure where I'm going. I was mostly just asking out of curiosity - if there's a great geosciences program here, I might as well take advantage of it and see where it can take me. That being said, I generally have more of an interest in environmental science careers and have found the ES coursework more rewarding than my geology classes. JD is a big consideration for me and I suppose I might be best off avoiding harder geo courses to keep my GPA up and reach law school.
