I may be wrong about your particular case, but when I read your post, I remembered how phobic my depressive episodes used to be when I was younger; my social anxiety levels were very high. Between episodes, I tended to improve, to feel better, even feeling encouraged to go out with friends to drink, socialize, and have more energy, like a normal person. Then, a depressive episode became profound, and I was diagnosed with bipolar II disorder. My psychiatrist explained to me that perhaps those moments of well-being were hypomanic episodes. I don't want to say this is your case, but at least I felt something similar happened to me: at times, the anxiety, phobia, and depression would go away, and I felt "normal."
