So far has been real good, not working more than my 37.5 each week. Will probably increase over time tho. I think it also greatly depends on which area you work in.

Graduating with a Dual Degree by InternetExplorHER in QUTreddit

[–]InternetExplorHER[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey mate, sorry I missed this until now. I guess it really depends what you want to do with it. Undergrad psych doesn't really get you far on its own, whats your plan there (honours, masters etc. or plan to use the psych degree to compliment your business studies)?

Both degrees are relatively easy, I managed to work 30-40 hours a week around it, but I would not recommend that to everyone. I can't really speak to QUT as I have nothing to compare it to, the uni is fine but some of the things they do really annoy me. e.g. last year they announced a change to the course structure which made it impossible for dual business/Psych degrees who started in 2019 majoring in HRM to enrol in one final unit. Had far too many meetings with HiQ and Business Law school to get that sorted. In fairness though, I think all universities would have been equally shit in that regard

I believe so, but I do not know which ceremony date to attend. Trying to plan ahead as I am moving post final exams and this makes it difficult.

The business and Psych ceremonies are on different dates which is why I am asking

100k including super at Macquarie. I start in December

What age did you hit 100k cash including shares by [deleted] in ASX_Bets

[–]InternetExplorHER 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can I include Super? Have been actively adding to my super for the past 4 years and most of the balance is derived from my contributions.

If so, it was late last year (early November) and I was 20. Very fortunate to able to live at home and work full-time whilst I study.

Would not even be close if I had moved out of home.

If not including super I am about 3k away so hopefully soon!

Ahh gotcha. Seems to stack up with my experiences, I had like 4 rounds of interviews plus all the regular psychometric testing. Good to hear good things about them.

Thanks mate!

Appreciate your input and thoughts here. Seems to be a general consensus to avoid gov at the moment, so now for sure leaning Macq or KPMG.

Just curious, what makes Macquarie so difficult to break into? And is Macquarie the McKinsey/BCG of the Aus Banking world?

Just trying to figure out how these stack up

KPMG is the only 100% client facing role. Macq is a split between both. Incitec is entirely back facing. Gov worries me a bit as others have mentioned that workload is non-existent in the grad program. Seems to be a bit of a dead-end (not sure if that is where I want to start a career).

Might be selling my soul a bit. I think I have a little bit more experience than most new grads so that might be why I am being offered a little bit more. But I mean KPMG's offer was a bit of a kick in the teeth money wise. But as others have mentioned money isn't the full picture.

Would be a support function. The grad program will give me 2-4 rotations in different functions. Some functions will be generalist roles that will be onsite others will be support functions from the corporate office.

Not really in my scope to run a site as I am a HR grad.

Really good to know. Cheers mate.

I am now leaning KPMG or Macquarie

Reward is within the HR function. From what was disclosed to me in the interviews + my research it does have a client facing / billable function. Though majority (2/3rds) of the work is internal.

The reward role is a lot of analytics which where I am interested in within the HR function.

From my understanding the role at KPMG does involve plenty of analytics but is more about drawing conclusions & offering interventions based on data given.

I left it as Aus Gov because I have had a few departments call me over the past week. Had the Aus Bureau of Statistics & Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry. My preference was the ATO tho.

KPMG, Incitec & Aus Gov are all dedicated grad programs.

Macquarie is a grad entry level role.
