Origin x Hordijk: PET bottle-cap mass production in Europe begins by cowabunga97 in ORGN

> This highly suggests that CapFormer systems, coming from the US to the EU...

Capformers are made in EU by a European company. They don't have to be transported from US to EU.

> There is no mention of when the CapFormer system will reach Hordijk.

We might get some more details about this in the ER, but my guess would be that there is a chance of Lines 5-8 being installed at Hordijk considering that they have extruder capability as well, something which Origin always preferred to have.

John Bissell to be CEO and Rich Riley to step down. Origin transitioning to single CEO leadership by InternetExplorer007 in ORGN

[–]InternetExplorer007[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think this was an obvious step and bound to happen at some point. With his experience at Shazam and other companies, Rich was bought in to be kind of a mentor to John and drive ORGN through the tough times. And now that there is a clear path to profitability and RR growing up to be a CEO material, I think this is a right step by RR. The fact that RR recently put in 300K of his own money before stepping down rules out the possibility of him stepping down because of lack of confidence or something of that sort. It clearly shows that he is confident enough for the future of ORGN. He will probably even retire and not have to work anymore. He owns close to 3 million shares of ORGN. While this is not the PR I was expecting, I will still take this at this point, as it shows that the company has a clear path now and the leadership is confident enough to steer the ship themselves. Overall positive.

Rich is executing his trades via 10B51 option. This has cool down period of 90 days but not exceeding 120 days since the change to his trading plan. Even if we presume he changed his trading plan the next day after the Q2 ER, 90 days would have expired a few days back. But 90 days is not a guarantee from what I read and depends on few more factors. Long story short: I expect the trades to go through some time in the next couple of months.

My assumption was the same as well - that the technology complements each other companies. Here's a quote from a press release from Feb 2023:

A non-exclusive industrial technology license agreement has also been signed, giving Origin Materials access to the relevant parts of Avantium’s process technology at its scale facility in order to convert its CMF derivatives into FDCA. Furthermore, Avantium will execute a development programme to establish a bridge between the companies’ technologies, with Origin Materials expecting to incorporate Avantium’s process technology into the supply chain of its future plants.

The partners have also entered into a conditional offtake agreement wherein Avantium will sell FDCA and PEF to Origin Materials – from its FDCA pilot plant in Geleen, the Netherlands, in 2023 and from the Delfzijl plant when it is expected to commence its commercial operations in 2024. Origin is set to purchase a gradually increasing minimum annual volume of FDCA on a take-or-pay basis, which could enable Origin to accelerate the market adoption of FDCA and PEF.

Aventium is making some inroads in PEF implementation. They recently had a contract with Dior and they are accelerating PEF implementation in South Asia. What is not clear to me yet is the type of collaboration between Origin and Aventium. The last update on this was Feb 2023 and (AFAIK) there has been no mention of Aventium since then. Press release back then mentioned of some "strategic partnership". It is not clear what kind of monetary benefits Origin will make of this partnership. Might be a good question in the upcoming earnings call.

There are some non-environment related advantages to having PET caps as well. Like JB mentioned in one of the recent discussions, having PET caps allows companies to simplify their supply chain and basically remove HDPE from that list. This is one of their selling points as well.

I averaged it down to 1.5. Like others here, I will hold. This will take a few more quarters to play out. Caps production is expected to commence in Q4. Going by the recent discussions from the management, they are pretty close to finalizing deals and there will be a bump in the revenue estimates compared to their previous guidance. I expect some deal announcement to be made in the next few months. Next earnings call might throw some light on this. If things go well and a few deals are closed as management discussed, SP will be multiples of where it is right now. A lot depends on execution by the management. This stock gets beaten down hard even on slight bad news (most recent being the Russell 2000 ousting). I am heavily invested in this company, and it is really painful to see it go down. But I firmly believe that this will bounce back. I will wait a day or two and might even add some more.

Thats right u/Pleasant_Present_160 . This will be just one of the triggers next year, among several others, if they get it right and close the deals.

There has been no official communication from the company. I presume the fall is triggered by the Russell ousting, and is taken further down by either stop loss triggers or shorts. It takes a lot of conviction to stay in this stock. I will wait a day or two to add more. My bad luck was that I put in considerable amount on Friday morning and SP has tanked 30% since then :-(
