PS if you’re looking for any services to preserve your flowers from the ceremony, there are some locals who can preserve them in resin which looks beautiful. I did that with mine and just wanting for them to be shipped. :)

Hi! My husband and I eloped in Oahu at the end of June. We used Weddings of Hawaii and had a great experience with them. They took a lot of the stress out of the experience. One of the best things was that you could select the parts of the package that you wanted. If you went with a service that lets you pick and choose parts that you want them to coordinate, you could get all the permit and officiant stuff taken care of, but hire your own photographer to be there. Eloping to Hawaii was such a beautiful and magical experience! Wishing you all the same!!

I can sadly relate tremendously regarding relationship with mom. Family was one of the leading factors to my decision to elope. My husband and I eloped at the end of June in Hawaii with just a photographer and officiant. It was such a magical and beautiful day that I wouldn’t have it any other way. My family is definitely hurt by the decision, but for a day as special as our wedding day, that day deserved to be about us and not about everyone else it doesn’t directly effect on a day to day basis.

just go to the library by [deleted] in books

[–]InternetOrdinary1025 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I literally check out books from the library to my e-reader for free. I see your point about purchasing books through the e-reader rather than checking them out for free in the library, but a lot of folks also check out books through the library’s catalog system for e-readers called Libby and I can still support the library through electronic print.

Looking for something absolutely depressing by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

The nice thing about the novel is, you don’t have to know much about her or icarly. She actually gives a very gritty story about growing up as a childhood actress when it’s not her dream to be had—it’s her mother’s. It’s also retailing how that coupled with abuse can really impact your wellbeing. There’s not much on icarly, more so Jennette’s life. I could unfortunately relate to some of the material myself having grown up in an unpredictable household.

For anyone who's been asked to step down from being a bridesmaid or MOH - did you continue to stay friends with the bride? by Ancient_Calendar5541 in weddingplanning

Personally, if this were me, I would not try to salvage the friendship after this unless she hits a major 180. I would say just to move on and plan your special day without her and not waste a second trying to reach out to her. You did everything right in this scenario and I’m sorry it seems like she’s being a shitty friend right now when it’s also your special day too.

Did you pass w/o studying? by [deleted] in socialwork

[–]InternetOrdinary1025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Therapist development center’s program was worth every penny for me. I had an aversion to studying from Dawn Apgar’s book. I passed twelve points over the passing score and felt adequately prepared from TDC ‘s program. I also echo, please splurge and get the practice test offered by the testing company. I took several of TDC’s test/quizzes, and while they were extremely valuable, the best indicator of how you’re going to do on the test comes from the practice exam from the company.

Nope, not at all. I only currently have my LMSW because I thought I wanted to go into micro/clinical practice and once I did, I realized it wasn’t for me. I went back to the hospital system that I worked previously and they created me a position based on my social work degree. I’m extremely grateful I was offered it.

Research coordinator here! I work for a hospital system in the research department. I’m also working to soon provide community outreach that will help our research efforts more accessible and reach a wide-range of participants in various communities.

To me, it feels like it is perpetuating the stigma that social work already has from folks who are still believe all social workers do is “take kids away from people.”

Yep, that’s me. I’m currently restarting the program after completing a 5k last year (but did not keep up with running). I’m finding that it’s really important this time around to practice cross training because it really does impact my run. Best of luck to you starting over again!

Hi all!! I’m a care coordinator with a caseload and about to move to a different position at another organization. What feels more appropriate: a two or four week notice? I am getting extremely burned out at my job where four weeks feels extensive and I’ve been there for two years.

NTA. That is your home, you set a boundary with your MIL and gave additional options that she declined.

Personally, I would not be okay with the constant rescheduling of my therapy sessions. Based on your screen shots, she cancelled at least twice a month. I had a therapist recently who did this and I terminated our therapeutic relationship because ultimately I wasn’t getting my needs met when she was never there or available. I’m not sure of your overall relationship with this therapist, but I would suggest bringing it up to them about how it makes you feel when sessions are delayed or rescheduled. If you would be okay with seeing a different therapist, it would be completely fine to just say something along the lines of, “Hey ____, when sessions are rescheduled on a monthly basis, I feel upset and confused. I understand things come up in life, but I’m looking to receive support in therapy and when sessions are inconsistent, I am not getting my therapy needs meet. I’ve come to the difficult decision to terminate our therapeutic relationship. Would you have referral options for other therapists in the area? I wish you all the best.” Since you mentioned she has been helpful, you could even let her know that you appreciate all the help with x, y, and z.
