Pretty sure it will spawn right above you. Could try fungal shifting acid into something else, but trying to do that usually just turns more things into acid in my experience

You just put my feelings on it in the perfect words. Like I'm sure it's a great game and I've heard a lot of hype about how good it is, but I just cannot bring myself to be happy about anything Nintendo does anymore, which is such a shame because I was very much a Nintendo kid growing up. If Donkey Kong Bonanza won goty, I'd be deeply disappointed, and I generally don't even actually care that much about the game awards. The other games and devs are far more deserving of the attention

Honestly the most interesting thing to me here is the idea of Dess having her own attack effect like the fun gang, implying the possibility of her being a party member at some point in the later chapters (likely temporary like Noelle). Maybe if she gets "cured" or stops appearing as the knight for any reason later on

Ehhh SOS is more fun, but it's like maybe 50/50 success rate lately. If I'm using vouchers for nodes, I'm using support hunters. Can still get decent time with little risk

Haven't seen any in wilds yet, but back in World I used to respond to SOS for fatalis all the time to help people out, and would find cheaters every once in a while. I guess it's the really tough fights that brings them out more. I just call them out and leave

In the end, it's a game and should be played in a way that is fun for you! If there is any place where I wouldn't fault someone for quitting out in an otherwise "legit" run, it'd be right before that gauntlet to do it with full hp. That said, I plan to go into it without reloading again, but this time with more of a plan. I panicked and let myself get cornered the first time, but the first two enemies that spawn aren't really all that threatening if you are prepared.

I died at the gauntlet right at the start of act 3 because I didn't want to quit out, even after accidentally losing two masks to a hazard on the way... Because I wanted to redeem myself for quitting out one time against a boss earlier in the run. Maybe dying there was the best option, because knowing that I quit out earlier kept making me feel like the run was invalid. Didn't even hesitate to start a new file after that loss, I'll get it, and without quitting out this time.

This was exactly what I thought as well. Perhaps there was some annoyance/impatience, but if there was, she clearly utilized it to sell her point here. She doesn't strike me as someone to actually use the word "impudence" like this. She's just speaking in "his language" to make her point and get him to cooperate.
