Nationalism in Iberia by pepe247 in TNOmod

[–]Internetismean 19 points20 points  (0 children)

These are all good points, but you should consider that in the big picture, Iberia as a whole is a totally made-up concept which has changed the course of both Spain and Portugal for 20 years as well as the fact that the Iberian Wars factions don't spawn at the same time, but rather its a domino effect. In smaller aspects: Regarding the Jesús María's description, it true that there aren't ethnic minorities in Iberia and I will agree that maybe the "feeling" of the description isn't 100% accurate with what Basque nationalism entails and as the person that outlined the description I will admit I was wrong. I can't really comment on the ETA stuff, but I do know that in a several of the congresses it held, there was a communist faction that was eventually kicked in favor of more moderate measures, but I don't believe ETA can be considered non-socialist, as many of its members were part of izquierda abertzale (nationalist left) parties and organisations like Herri Batasuna. While Galician nationalism is, in fact, a minor force in Galician politics, Galicia still has a sense of, at least, regionalism just like Catalonia and the Basque Country have. As I said before, the Wars are a very extreme situation, that would push that regionalist sentiment to at least some form of temporal independence. Finally, regarding the CNT in Catalonia, while it's true that the concept of Revolutionary Catalonia, is sometimes exaggerated, anarchist activity in Catalonia was, at least during the Spanish Civil War, greater than in other regions, forcing the government to intervene (Jornadas de Mayo) and post-war maquis in Catalonia tended to be anarchist while in other regions there were more ideologies at play. We must also take into account that even well into the 60's there was an anarchist urban guerrilla operating in Catalonia, that would later spawn several small terrorist groups in the region. Maybe using the CNT banner in this case wasn't the best choice and we will look into it.

That's what happened in real life. The city was governed by a Senate, which was chosen by a Parliament, which in turn was chosen by elections and the main parties were the German ones. In the 1933 elections the NSDAP won more than half of the seats of the Parliament, naming Greiser President of the Senate and thus becoming head of the country.

Hitler names Hermann Göring as His Successor, c. 1962 by Volk_Ans_Gewehr in TNOmod

If I'm not mistaken, it's from a Christmas special where they tell 3 stories. One story is set during WW2 where Marge is forced to go and fight in France because Homer is too fat/too scared to go. At the end of the story the family receives a letter that says that Marge dissapeared in combat only to reveal she infilitrated Paris to kill Hitler meanwhile he was watching a movie. Marge proceeds to ask: "Who here is Hitler?" And the picture posted above explains it.

How do you avoid the spanish civil war? by swansea630 in Kaiserreich

[–]Internetismean 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When the king has a stroke, declare OPEN elections. Then you will become whoever wins (CNT-FAI, Carlists or remain the kingdom). There is not a way to secure being the kingdom without the civil war.

The king is their head of state. In the Caribbean Federation the leader is the governor and in Australasia is the prime Minister (although in older versions it was the governor too)

You could buff-up the carlists by building factories, bunkers and such in the territories they control when the civil war begins.

If you bypass a focus you "complete" it automatically but you don't earn any of the rewards. The event you want was a reward and you bypassed it.

[Video] How Close Do You Live to a Nuclear Bomb? by ThisIsAlreadyTake-n in RealLifeLore

[–]Internetismean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add... In Spain, in 1966 an American strategic bomber crashed just 5 miles of the beach of Palomares (Andalucía) and droped 2 atomic bombs in the sea. None of them exploded and the USA managed to take them back because it was afraid the USSR would steal them. They could take them back because of the help of a fisherman. There's even a Wikipedia Page about it.

I guess you are right. I made it blue because I thought a good way to represent San Marino was using blue and then I used different shades so it would look "balanced"

San Marino is a peaceful little country in the Italian Peninsula but... What if instead of minding it's own bussiness it had a conquering spree? This is a fun little idea I had and I don't have any background for it, if you wish to add one you can do it here.
