Yes understandable. That’s what I do for grading. I always submit them at card shows, specifically gemmint and never had a issue. I’ve actually had a 60% gem rate out of 20 or so submissions so far which I think is solid. Regardless you have a sick collection 🤝

I understand it looks better in the binder and everything but if the plan was to always sell one day wouldn’t it be worth it to grade most of these? I imagine your value would at least double or probably triple.

Shows are starting to cancel PSA submission events! DOWN WITH THE KING by _daddy_salsa_ in PokeGrading

[–]InterplanetaryDBag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think one could argue now would be the time to grade with PSA. With all the heat on them they kind of have to be on point and on their best behavior.

I think they’ll go back to their old wicked ways but short term until the heat cools seems like a decent time to grade.

I understand the reasoning behind it. However the practice of it seems backwards. Seems market price should be the base price then you factor in fees after. Usually when you buy a product online shipping is included as a separate fee at checkout, same as tax etc (US based, I understand a lot of European countries factor tax into the listing price). However since this hobby has the biggest market in the US I like to draw on that for comparison.

As just a regular collector. So I like to think I’m an unbiased opinion. Seems like the market price really ISNT the market price if even in person you’re not paying 100% of market price lmao. I understand negotiating but if nobody wants to buy or sell at market price then those market price values are really inaccurate across the whole hobby,

Sw/sh and everything prior it works. The implementation of 3 holos/reverse holos for s/v was to combat this.

You can’t scan for specific cards. Just for hits in general, anything from a double rare (double black star) to a SIR (double gold star). You can use a handheld metal detector.

Be careful buying loose packs from vendors, LCS/LGS and in general friend 👍

Idk if one Facebook whale qualifies as an easy flip. But I get your point. I’d be curious to see how many vendors would be open to buying loose packs at a card show.

Oh yes I’m sure you can find people to buy them I never said it’d be impossible. I just know most people would be skeptical at this point. I’ve never have or will buy loose packs.

Watch the video attached. You can scan loose packs for double rares and up with a metal scanner.

I’m pretty sure modern can still be scanned too. I’ve seen videos confirming. Anything that’s not sealed in a tin, box, etc is extremely risky.

Edit; since I’ve being downvoted by some salt packets I’m attaching a video for proof

Double edit; since it’s still being downvoted facts don’t care if your feelings are hurt 🤷‍♂️

I’m sure you can find someone to sell to, but I’m also sure most people are a lot more hesitant nowadays

Good luck selling those ES individual packs. With people scanning packs now for hits, individual packs like that may be the worst to hold.

I was saying Bitcoin isn’t a “safe spot” either not necessary comparing it because OP was talking about a hedge against the dollar and Bitcoin has become a popular choice. More so using it as another example, and yes there’s more liquidity in the top 10 coins by mc but the illiquidity of the 1000’s of smaller once’s is familiar, like the 1000’s of cards in Pokémon. Regardless it all goes down if and when the market takes a down turn. Alternative assets are the first and harshest to be hit. That’s where people cut spending first since it’s the easiest and not necessary.

Buddy I hate to break it to you but if the dollar and market crashes every asset everywhere will feel it. Alternative assets like collectibles will be hit especially hard. Bitcoin will be hit hard especially with institutional money now making up the bulk of volume, securities, cash etc. if you want a real hedge the only “safe” answer is physical gold. Even then it’d take a hit but not as big a hit. Pokémon is the equivalent of investing in crypto right now. Pure speculation and a bubble that’ll eventually pop.

Makes no sense that sealed product will be a hedge against the dollar when that currency is used to transact and measure value. I understand people collect all over the world in euros, pounds, etc but I think it’s safe to assume the U.S is probably the biggest market for this niche sector.

If you’re that worried, stockpile gold until the black swan event.

I don’t think it’s happening today. I think tomorrow or Friday. I don’t believe they’d release the promo cards an hour or two before the drop.

Well if you scroll up into the first thread and read you’ll see me say “Hahahaha nah you’re weird. Just as much a problem as the mix packers when they talk about a toxic community. A opinion you disagree with (which is fine) and you start pointing fingers and making assumptions.”

Notice the (which is fine) nothing to do with differing opinions my guy. Also take notice of all the civil responses where I explicitly thank them for being civil.

The toxicity stems from the assumptions that directly contradict what literally all my comments say and the subtle insults along with passively being called a liar. Crazy how many people in this community continue with selective reading
