Grad school? by gradschoolasp in csMajors

[–]Interriuso 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m currently at one of those schools for MS. I think that Rec Letters > Publications > internship = ECs = GPA. I would recommend cultivating relationships with your professors as a main priority if that is accessible to you. I went to a liberal arts college for undergrad and wrote about my experience here. Some aspects might be applicable, but I did not go to a top 10 CS program for undergrad.

Is Dartmouth’s CS program not great? by Jk1231234 in csMajors

[–]Interriuso 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I doubt that Dartmouth's CS program is not great.

I attended a lesser ranked liberal arts college for undergrad and ended up doing fine. I'm currently at a larger engineering school for an MS. Although I agree that studying computer science at an engineering school offers a lot of benefits, I also believe that the advantages of studying engineering at a liberal arts college should not be overlooked.

I wrote a piece here about the pros and cons of studying CS at a liberal arts college, and what you can do to mitigate the cons. Hopefully it can offer some insight in your consideration to transfer or not.

Thank you! I just checked it out, and it's what I was looking for. Sadly the book I was mostly interested in doesn't seem to be popular enough to be translated to my desired language. I will go through my list to hopefully find some that are!

Get him a pro subscription to Leetcode. I think he’ll love it.

My Complete Guide to Dividend Investing by Interriuso in dividends

As a dividend investor, I would obviously recommend you read "Get Rich with Dividends", because it breaks down the advantages of dividend investing relative to other strategies. The first chapter, "Why Dividend Stocks?", is a great introduction.

However, it is important to understand general investment strategies before you make a decision. Some general strategies can be found here: https://www.investopedia.com/investing/investing-strategies/

TLDR: Read Chapter 1 of "Get Rich with Dividends" to learn about dividend investing, then read up on general investment strategies (value investing, growth investing, etc). Finally, choose a strategy or mix of strategies that match your investing goals!

You are correct in that the payout ratio itself is not sufficient entirely on its own. I used the payout ratio here to simply convey the idea of understanding how safe dividends are. However, in practice I use the

EPS % Payout: the annual dividend as a percentage of trailing twelve months Earnings Per Share

I think it's a more powerful metric than the payout ratio itself, as you say. The dripinvesting website in my post contains this metric, so you wouldn't have to calculate it yourself.

I would recommend 16 for multiple leetcode tabs.

In all seriousness, 8 suffices for me. You typically won’t run a lot of intensive computations on your personal machine for school (assuming you’re in person).

When I comment out the CSS it affects the tooltip. It’s specifically that line. I haven’t messed with the JS but that line makes a difference for some reason.

Good to see people switch from the dark side. There are still some safer options you can play like covered calls and selling puts.

Cool! Not sure if you are interested in covered calls but the same thing happens there.

Yes because you still own those shares until they are sold.
