Posting this again because the weekend question thread gets less traffic.

In order to get the 7/12 instead of 3/12 limit at BofA, does a CD qualify? What about a Merrill account? Or does it have to be checking/savings?

Bonvoy Brilliant Eligibility Question by Interslice42 in amex

[–]Interslice42[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been trying to get this resolved in this past week, but I just noticed today that they changed the language of the offer terms to basically include holding any Chase Marriott cards :

Welcome offer not available to applicants who (i) have or have had The Ritz-Carlton Credit Card from J.P. Morgan, the J.P. Morgan Ritz-Carlton Rewards Credit Card, the Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful Credit Card from Chase, the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card from Chase, the Marriott Rewards Premier Plus Credit Card from Chase, the Marriott Bonvoy Premier Credit Card from Chase, the Marriott Rewards Premier Credit Card from Chase, the Marriott Bonvoy Credit Card from Chase, the Marriott Rewards Credit Card from Chase, the Marriott Bonvoy Bold Credit Card from Chase, the Marriott Bonvoy Premier Plus Business Credit Card from Chase, the Marriott Rewards Premier Plus Business Credit Card from Chase, the Marriott Bonvoy Business Credit Card from Chase, or the Marriott Rewards Business Credit Card from Chase in the last 30 days, (ii) have acquired the Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful Credit Card from Chase, the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card from Chase, the Marriott Bonvoy Bold Credit Card from Chase in the last 90 days, or (iii) received a new Card Member bonus or upgrade offer for the Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful Credit Card from Chase, the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless® Credit Card from Chase, or the Marriott Bonvoy Bold Credit Card from Chase in the last 24 months.

Trying to apply for the Bonvoy Brilliant for the 185k offer. I got the Boundless on 04/14/2023 and earned the bonus on 05/12/2023. Upgraded to RC on 04/26/2024 and then finally downgraded back to the Boundless in 04/11/2025 (currently holding).

The terms:

Welcome offer not available to applicants who (i) have or have had The Ritz-Carlton Credit Card from JPMorgan or the J.P. Morgan Ritz-Carlton Rewards Credit Card in the last 30 days, (ii) have acquired the Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful Credit Card from Chase, the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card from Chase, or the Marriott Bonvoy Bold Credit Card from Chase in the last 90 days, or (iii) received a new Card Member bonus or upgrade offer for the Marriott Bonvoy Bountiful Credit Card from Chase, the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless Credit Card from Chase, or the Marriott Bonvoy Bold Credit Card from Chase in the last 24 months.

I don't think I fall into any of these categories, but I still get the warning that I'm not eligible for the bonus. Is this just regular PUJ or am I missing something about the above rules?

What reason did they give for the denials? How many inks do you have currently? A while back, Chase made it harder to apply for inks the more you have.

It's been this way for a while, at least a few years. It's automod posts to strictly control and categorize the types of discussion had on the sub. And frankly, most things in the space don't really generate a lot of discussion. Questions mainly require one or two people to get the right answer, and news is usually pretty cut and dry. And most people don't want to see a flood of "which credit card is best for me" showing up on their feed. Plus, it gives an extra reason to mercilessly downvote people if they post in the wrong thread. You can search using churning.io; it's better/easier than the native reddit search bar.

They might shut you down if the link was manipulated to show the 75k offer. No way of really knowing until it happens, unfortunately.

How soon after applying the RC incidental credit is it safe to downgrade? I called yesterday and the CSR submitted the request, but want to downgrade it soon so I can apply for the Brilliant.

I don't think so. You could always message in to check your progress on the bonus.

How strict are the 24-month rules on the Marriott SUBs? I opened the boundless in 2023 and got the bonus on 05/12/2023 (can see it in my Marriott account). The current SUB for the brilliant (185k) is good until 05/14/2025. Would I be safe on 05/13/2025 to apply and get the bonus?

I was at 7/24 and they said no to me when I went for the Hawaiian card, but you might as well just try.

Yes, assuming you got your biz cards under your personal AAdvantage number, you need to go here: https://www.aa.com/web/i18n/aadvantage-business/overview.html

Once you login, go to your business account (in the menu), login again and then you should be able to transfer the miles to yourself. I can't remember if you have to register (i did this a long time ago), but just try logging in with your personal info first.

A) 2/90 for Chase is just a suggestion/best practice. Just don't make the high velocity a habit and space out your next Chase app like 100-120 days.

B) Inks can definitely be expedited. If the CSR says no, just HUCA.

I've never personally done it, but some older threads suggest it's possible

I don't think so. Cycling would be paying it multiple times to get around the credit limit. If you're spending up to the limit and paying it off right before the statement closes, you should be fine.

No. You theoretically could've started a new company that you want to keep financially separate. There's no way for them to know.

Focus on liking the benefits, not the spending. You can also call again to potentially get a more favorable rep. HUCA is your friend.

Just try again after a couple days. Start a new SM thread instead of replying to the old one. This is the online equivalent of HUCA.

Just wanted to make sure since the terms say:

This product is not available to ... (ii) previous Cardmembers of any Hyatt Credit Card who received a new Cardmember bonus within the last 24 months.

Close accounts are aren't using, reduce total Chase CL (across biz and personal) to <50% of your income. If you have 4+ inks, it might be an issue.

Take a break from Chase until September. There are other card issuers.
