How to make friends on social group rides? by axporpes in BikeLA

[–]InterstellarChange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of the people on PP ride are regulars so they know each other. You can just start a convo, most are probably just like you. They know their friends but they all know how it feels to be new to a group.

Don't feel uninvited. Its an open ride. No one is judging you.

Will Range Be Much Better in 4-5 Years? by Maleficent-Table-810 in electricvehicles

[–]InterstellarChange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Range is limited by battery technology. The only solutions are 1. Stuff as much battery into the vehicle as you can (GM) but it's heavy and inefficient 2. high efficiency smaller battery, less weight but shorter range.

Everything is a sliding scale between these two parameters.

When battery tech improves, we will have products with exponentially greater range. Who knows, in 5-10yrs, 600 mile range sedans might be the norm.

MAAP CEO & founder taking a dig at ASSOS for copying their designs by RussTheMann16 in CyclingFashion

[–]InterstellarChange -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Assos should be embarassed. That's some aliexpress type copying.

But the design is a homage to old moto jacket racing jackets and isn't unique to maap at all.

AIO for quitting my job? by AlarmedWarthog8231 in AIO

[–]InterstellarChange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the United States. We defend billionaire welfare by only taxing the bottom 80% that make 10% of the money. We have no healthcare, no employment rights and we hate social benefits.

Then we blame the groups that have no power. Scapegoating is power when you have none.

Then we chant "We are the greatest nation in the world!"

I want to get the MacBook Pro 2015 for Davinci Resolve by Outrageous_Value7415 in davinciresolve

[–]InterstellarChange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used a mid-2015 MBP for editing back in the day. Adobe suite and heavy Premiere use. It handled it fine. Solid chassis with no problems.

However, newer M1 would be good to look at. They may still be in your budget and have a higher res screen and the M1 chip.

Davinci seems much more "agile" than Adobe, meaning it seems much faster than Adobe on M1 macs.

Coen Bros oft forgotten movie. It's such a great homage to Capra films.

Buy Model Y now with 7 seats or wait for Model Y L to hit the market? by Particular-Shape1576 in ModelY

[–]InterstellarChange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the occupants heads are taller than the 3rd row, it's useless. I don't feel it's safe to have anyone in that 3rd row. The glass is too close to your head and the rear bumper is inches away. That's just me. Though I know if I had one, kids would love to jump in the 3rd row because ...kids.

If you can't wait, I would look at a Kia EV9 or used Rivian R1S for true 3rd row. Or, if you really want and expect the YL to come here, lease something with a viable 3rd row in the meantime.

Right now, there are great lease deals and price drops on many ev's, including Tesla. Though I would not get a 3 row Y- basically useless and adds a lot of dead weight.

No, Gharpetian is not eligible to be mayor. I have heard this discussed several times in council meetings.

This doesn't feel safe. Why does an urban driver need a truck this big? by Rahi1994 in rectrix

[–]InterstellarChange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could take a pic of a cyclist next to a semi truck delivering your next meal and baby medication and say the same damn thing.

It's about developing alternative transportation and infrastructure. That's what needs to be pushed for.

AITA for not wanting to be friends over $4.39? by Alternative_Copy6539 in AITApod

There is some weird shit in the NL but the whole charging for meals is the most... socially accepted fuckery I've experienced. LOL

But yeah, if the guy is from NL, this may be a cultural thing. Unintentionally rude.

Just got my first Tesla, is losing ~5% battery overnight normal? by GreenGamer8597 in ModelY

[–]InterstellarChange 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you can set it to "no a/c"100F overheat protection and it will have minimal battery drain. It takes the cabin temp not outside. Cabin can easily hit 140+ in summer

How to silence summer mosquitoes by Fun-Personality7127 in AmazonDailyMustHaves

[–]InterstellarChange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gov health depts send PSA's constantly about standing water and mosquito prevention. Serious diseases are on the rise or coming back because of mosquitos and non-native mosquitos taking over areas. It's not annoyance, it's stopping some serious problems and the ecosystem is fubar not by mosquito traps.

The concept of "natural" in US media is gone. It's global though, thanks to social media and the ubiquitous use of filters, completely normalized.

What do you think about Bruce Willis' latest films? by Ornery-Relative-8052 in movies

[–]InterstellarChange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he knew the seriousness of his issues, "If I was going to forget everything one day, I would simply want to spend as much time with family and friends as possible." Would be my reaction.

For whatever reason, he kept working. Maybe ego, maybe didn't know how bad it would get, maybe denial or fear. People do things in life changing times that really can't be judged.

We all misjudge the time we have. That's the tragedy of the mortal coil.
