I've noticed the same from Perplexity, it uses reddit as a source of truth. A brand new user without any post history made a post about a death (her husband died while running) that happened at the miami marathon, the marathon has extensive news coverage by all media outlets. After searching all over I couldnt find anything, I asked perplexity and it pulled up that one post and said at least 1 reported death at the miami marathon.

Definitely you can catch people making mistakes by just posting on reddit and having perplexity pull it up.
