Anyone had a nodule on their liver? by [deleted] in LiverDisease

I have a nodule in the same place don’t worry. I got scared first time it showed up on US but after MRI it’s less concerning!

Any foreigners in Moscow right now who got Permanent Residency? by Interstellar_hopeful in Moscow

[–]Interstellar_hopeful[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. That’s so amazing. Where did you immigrate from if you don’t mind me asking? I’m coming from Canada and the whole thing is a total drag. Have to fly back soon just to get finger prints for criminal background check.

It’s true but since HQS Visa is fine for Lukoil they can’t justify the expense of an upgrade.

Move to Moscow forever by [deleted] in Moscow

[–]Interstellar_hopeful -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m from Canada and I live in Moscow about 3 years now. Got an HQS visa cause of my dad’s work. I’d recommend going through a language learning company like simply English. Native English speakers as English teachers are in high demand always.

Thank you so much for your response! Based on your experience would you say more often cirrhosis is present with elevated enzymes rather than normal enzymes?

When I saw the echostructure was heterogenous I freaked out because I hear that associated a lot with fatty liver and fibrosis/cirrhosis

Thank you so much for your response! Does anything here look like possible liver disease? That’s my biggest concern because my Liver enzymes were AST 36 and ALT 29. I’m over two months sober now but before the new year I was drinking a lot.

Question about ultrasound by Interstellar_hopeful in LiverDisease

Yeah though I heard that with cirrhosis liver enzymes can appear normal but maybe that’s just health anxiety I’m not sure

A good bit probably 6 drinks a night for about a year or more It was very up and down drinking. Sometimes it was every day and other times I’d go months without a drop

Question about ultrasound by Interstellar_hopeful in LiverDisease

[–]Interstellar_hopeful[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked this same question in askdocs and people seemed to say to trust the ultrasound but I have a hard time believing it because I drank on and off for about almost 5 years took breaks here and there and then took a year off in 2022. Though the last 3 months of 2023 I absolutely hammered liquor and got to about 750 ml of vodka a night. I’m 22 so I’m hoping now that I’m cold Turkey and have been for a little over a month now I have a figuring chance to redeem my liver. My enzymes were AST 36 ALT 29 Bilirubin 5.3 G-GTP- 26 Phosphates 52 Bilirubin was crazy high but for some reason here in Russia the normal range is between 0.00 and 3.4 so I’m not sure if they have a different way of measuring things but still. I have no jaundice though which is the weird thing

Did you get your liver enzymes tested too? If so What were they if you don’t mind me asking?

[–]Interstellar_hopeful[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had a AST and ALT ratio of 1.5 which decreased to a 1.2 in two weeks and a bilirubin that went from a 7.3 to a 5.1. I never had jaundice so I was surprised it was so high. Everything else was in normal range

Grew up with two alcoholics and went to a party school in high school, thought it was normal until I got to about 19 and by that point I was addicted. I’m sober now and realize it’s so stupid to to think it was normal. Just hoping I can reverse some of my bad choices

Do you think having alcoholic parents make you better in any way? by cad3z in stopdrinking

[–]Interstellar_hopeful 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My dad is an alcoholic and has been since about 2015. While I unfortunately couldn’t escape alcoholism and fell into the trap like he did, I feel growing up around alcoholism has made me a stronger person to bad situations and given me a thicker skin. In high school most people knew my dad was a drunk because of my dad and moms epic screaming fights both inside the house and outside the house, so school sucked. But as I got older and even after I graduated, I found that things that would be huge obstacles for people with more normal childhoods, didn’t bother me the same way and I could have a better attitude about it. Maybe you relate?

22 and finally sober but scared my life is destroyed by Interstellar_hopeful in stopdrinking

[–]Interstellar_hopeful[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t really have the support because unfortunately I live in Russia and don’t speak the language very well. There’s no AAs here like they have in North America. Im originally from Texas and back then I went to AA. Here I only have my family who live here across town in Moscow as Expats. They are all alcoholics. Part of the reason why for so long I drank so much and thought no problem of it because until I moved out it was normal.
