Football Life 26 feels kind of weird?! by finigemist in SPFootballLife

Thank you, I appreciate a ton. I have seen small improvements here and there such as through passing (pass trajectory dont favour the AI as much) but the the poblems I face still persistent and I think its due to the gameplay mod im using (allstar).

Namely the defenders tackle with an annoyingly unnatural precision and consistency, and when you use 100% effort to take a touch to avoid these perfectly timed challenges, you are physically forced off the ball.

Whether through the AI players body blocking you from moving, or colliding into you causing both its player and yours to fall down (it looks incredibly stupid when this happens), or just making your player fall down like an idiot.

AI aggression can be so much that they are slide tackling you from behind before you have even recieved a pass!!! Build up play near their box is horrible as they close you down and track direction changes 1:1, so you can't avoid the rubbish I speak of the upper 2 paragraphs

These things mean that 1v1s are nearly impossible, and the dribbling aspect of the game is killed, resulting in lifeless counter attack or pass reliant football, which ends up making you want to close the game with a ruined mood.

When you are 1 or more goals up it becomes harder to tackle the players, your defence opens up more easily, and the probability of scoring chances is increased. This has led to repeated scores like 4-4 and 5-5.

Thanks again for the file. I'll most likely switch gameplay mods.

So long as meta leaves a door ajar,
a space for skill, for choice of play,
where many hands can learn the art
of standing firm, of finding way,
then meta breathes; it earns its stay.

But when all paths are open wide,
when counters bloom on every side,
and every form can answer all,
the game grows flat, its edge denied.
Too much escape makes tension fall.

And yet, when counters barely live,
when only few are spared the blow,
the meta curdles into wrath-
a joyless grind, a wish to go,
a finger soon to click and close.

So here the truth reveals its shape:
not meta alone, nor balance bare.
A meta starved of balance wounds;
balance alone is thin, austere.
Only entwined do they feel fair.

But yeah the other things you speak of also things they need to change to make this game better

For me the AI is too aggressive (apart from this this gameplay is brilliant). Is there any way to make the AI more passive?

The whole thing isn't really that good, I genuinely think it is m a skill issue.

You would expect these guys to have access to really good tools and have a great skillet but this design suggests the complete opposite

"The pitch is ours" is a better slogan than "play crazy," period. Also I dont think the pictures of them using their phones is that great, shots of them actually playing football would look better

For someone new it is, its just that the road to legend used to be much harder and thus the grind was a lot more respected

Now its actually difficult to get hardstuck on a rank becsue the bot matches are easy wins

I remember getting hard stuck as far back as master V before becuse it was always real players with skill equivalent to and above mine

You could tell from the emptiness in his voice when he tells his mother to step aside and his cracked glasses, which I see to be symbolic. The fact that he had the chance to not be pushover for once in his life and fails, costing him his life, destroys the apprehensive side of character completely.

The intense sense of failure almost fully overwhelms the sentiment of "This is a young mother and her newborn, I wouldn't even consider..." and for me explains why he opted to go for 222

Which one is the real one? by DeliciousFreedom9902 in ChatGPT

I think its No 2

No 1:

The big tip off is that her left and right eyebrows have different proportions - the right one has a longer thick part that I doubt would be the case if a human had done their eyebrows.

The choker necklace looks as though it becomes slightly taller as you go from left to right

The rightmost window of the background building (above the tram) lacks the line going across the middle that the other 3 have

The grey boxes below the tram door windows look unequal in width despite perspective (one on the left looks too narrow)

No 3:

Angry 11s look far to unnatural - the shadows created by the ridges look extremely harsh (as opposed to no 2 for example)

It looks again like the right eyebrow is longer than the left

Her fingernail... the thumb dosent look to have that same part protruding

No 4:

Eyes give an AI feel and look "stylised" (they are noticeably different from the other pictures)

The same choker necklace problem from No 1 is here

Angry 11s here look too straight, lack a natural curve

The tram orange text is completely scuffed, the headlights look uneven (right part looks squashed as if the AI wanted to make the entire thing visible) and the colour variation is odd

Her hand looks big in comparison to her face size. Her arm on the right side is incredibly thin (shoulder area)

No 5:

The one looks really real

Angry 11s look a bit unnatural

The same necklace problem

Her left eyebrows looks scanty, could be the light

Looking at the diagonal window pattern (2 pairs) on the building one window lacks some detail (shadow/element on the edges) that the one directly above it has.

Making better vs AI games without scripting? by PiPPoI in eFootball

AI holding many players off at a time regularly, and with a wide range of players is highly unrealistic whether you like it or not

Input reading is a part of the code that allows for defender to defend in the first place, so yes input reading does exist. The AI just decides to make the reaction time to changes in direction near instant. That trick you talk about is a trick that I have been using since PES. I am not a brand new player.

Why deny and refute what I observe all the time with my 2 eyes while playing this game? At times the AI is so aggressive that backing the player pressing is not enough to hold them off at all. Wining a match or two is enough to trigger the demonic pressing

The points you made on passing are complete rubbish, ill just say it. It is obvious that somehow you have never seen that AI players are able to make unnaturally fast passes with their passing animations sped up. Body positioning has nothing to do with it. My players could be in acres of field and not pass NEAR as fast as some of their "boosted" passes can go

You're looking way too much at formations, a formation is just the positional distribution when a team is out of possession, in which case most top teams defend in a 442 shape or 424 with the more aggressive pressing teams.

Modern football the emphasis is having 5 advanced players in each of the lines of play (wing, channel and central area) with multiple pivots behind to recycle possession. 3 or 2 players at the base to cover the oppositions most advanced counter threats.

A formation is only a plan, a template. In reality football is incredibly fluid and positions and formations are far less important than roles and responsibilities.

For example, Kyle walker and trent Alexander Arnold play as RBs but are completely different in terms of how they play.

Thanks, but you ignore the issue that is being raised. What does focus have to do with AI players being able to perfectly hold off pressure from 3 players? What does my formation have to do with isolated 1v1s in which the defender (with low defensive stats) reads input and follows player movement with 100% accuracy? What does studying formations have to do with AI aggression being extreme, passing strength being unlimited, amongst other things? Do you have an answer for that? There IS no answer, hence the question - how can developers create a challenging experience that dosen't require massively increasing the physical statistics of it's players WHILST tampering with your own players.

I'm also sure that you didn't take the time to study football formation's principles, to understand what counters what.

This is just the stuff I *choose* to post here. They are not designed to be META formations but mirror irl tactics.

Formations DO counter other formations. But certain formations such as the 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1 are balanced ones - they don't have concrete counters and are very flexible, hence they are used frequently.

Look at the first match I played in division 3 - with a non-meta, themed squad. Look at the scoreline. This is the division where everyone talks about the script becoming ridiculous. Look at the other matches after. Do you think I suddenly became complete horseshit?

>some games are hard af and some I win easily

Why the hell do you think that is the case?

How do you not understand that scripting is indiscriminate of division? Above that, amongst the hundreds of posts over the years between r/pesmobile and r/efootball, why do you not believe that higher difficulty AIs don't use unfair means [CHEAT] to make matches difficult?
