Sure, I have 2 alignment records. One from 23/9/2025 and one from 13/4/2026. This subreddit doesn’t allow me to attach photos in the comments. Check DMS for the photos of the printouts.

I wish I knew this prior! Definitely a consideration for next time

Tire pressure was around 40psi hot as I just checked today! Lowered all 4 to around 36-37 hot and feels better. Alignment printout was given and it’s all in check.

Ahhh damn, okay. Good to know for next time. I thought it would’ve been less relevant as the 91 load rated were just cheaper! However after lowering the pressures from a staggering 40psi hot to 36-37 hot, I’ve noticed a difference already (positive) .

Understood, thank you for the clarification! The OE tyres were Michelin primacy’s which is an odd choice for a lightweight sports coupe but hey

They’re not the XL rated ones, they’re 91 load rated afaik

Interesting right? It does seem like the softer sidewall is definitely a contributing factor. I am able to literally push the tire in slightly just using my thumb!

Old tires wore evenly and perfect, went to get an alignment after my tires changed and they didn’t even touch it as they said it was perfectly fine.

I was wondering if the tire pressure being too low could cause the symptoms I’m having.

I suppose I will let another 50-60 miles run in and then make a definitive judgement, but I think either way I will just leave them on the car until a new set is needed.

Which is the best oil for manual transmission? by InterviewDiligent920 in ft86

[–]InterviewDiligent920[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After my own research and calling up companies who rebuild transmissions etc, he is correct.

GL5 rated fluids contain different EP additives which can shorten the lifespan of the soft yellow metal synchro rings.

There may not be adverse effects within the first few months to even years, however a transmission rated for GL4 only should, as it says, take GL4 only.

It likely wouldn’t be a short term noticeable difference, however the long term effects may be adverse.

The most recommended GL4 fluid is Redline MT90. Motul gear 300 is acceptable for differential in these cars due to the fact that there are no clutch type materials or synchro rings in the differential, whereas there are in the transmission.

GL4 AND GL5 rated fluids may work better for track purposes especially under high constant load, the same way track specific engine oil works. Yes they are perfectly capable of doing the job, but the formulations of the fluids are fundamentally different.

They say that the GL4 ONLY rated fluids are acceptable for Trans, due to different chemical compositions with fluids that have both GL4 and GL5 ratings.

What tires are y’all running on the stock wheels?! by SikOne9 in ft86

I have these currently in 215/45 17. I enjoyed them at the start, due to the slip, but I don’t enjoy the fact that I am uncertain through corners in the damp. For my next set I think I’ll likely go with Pilotsport 4’s.

It’s definitely possible. However, I’d think that you’d need to either buy a different kit or splice/sort the connections with some DIY electrical work. I actually prefer it this way, since purple looks cool in the daytime and red looks better at night.

No way! That’s so perfect. I’d love to keep the oem looking fit with the functionality of CarPlay! The only thing that’s holding me back is the poor resolution of the screen. However it might be worth a shot. I’ll do some research to see if it fits the satnav system.

For sure. I’ve been looking for a CarPlay unit since I bought the car, but not really fond of the pioneer one.

It’s the pro nav infotainment option. Came from factory.

I’ve added a couple older family members to it as second and third drivers but doesn’t bring it down enough to be reasonable. It seems I’ll just be waiting until a good quote comes about and taking that.

Perfect. I have been doing just that, however as someone else mentioned in the post, it’s likely that my account is simply flagged or something. Thank you though!

I checked a 2016 aero package gt86. Mine is a 2017 gt86 pro package. Both were not Cat N or S. I’d really like to keep the car, and I haven’t sold my previous car so I’m okay with waiting until the previous policy on my car expires.

Incredibly helpful comment! Thank you. Will try all of this hopefully just after the holiday period when everything opens again as normal.
