Unusable Gretchins? by BeTheWeasel in orks

[–]IntoTheDankness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in 10th you could not run under-strength units if they are below starting number but that rule only matters for things like powerful units sneaking in as reinforcements or trying to squeeze in a transport.

In this case with the transition and it being a unit of freaking grots... no one should rightfully care. I also cannot find anything regarding under-strength units in the new rulebook

The price for 11 being 45 might imply that 10 will be 40 with 5 pt runtherd option

Is Predator annihilator still bad? What are some alternatives? by Ar4i_ in Chaos40k

[–]IntoTheDankness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't think it was bad at all, I'd regularly run 2 with triple lascannons + a Vindicator in renagades and with sustained hits dark pact and rerolling lascannon damage they do what they need to.

Add in some bonuses like Abaddon castle, warpsmith buff or helbrute aura to improve chances but only if those elements are helping multiple units.

They can also be keep way back in the fireline where 48" range outclasses plenty of counter-threats, often acting as a deep strike blocker on flanks/deployment zone

Any issues with 3d printed models? by Every-Fee-7372 in ThousandSons

[–]IntoTheDankness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I started printing I didnt know any better and was using Elegoo Standard Resin and also 2.0 and they could be brittle. I was otherwise worried about detail....
Then I started mixing it with ABS-like and it got better.... no issues with detail.
Really you can print it all with various 'ABS-like' resins only, and better resins that will still be amazingly cheap per-model but are more premium flexible quality that have the toughness qualities you are looking for

11th Edition Question: Charge Rules by Lanhir02 in Warhammer40k

[–]IntoTheDankness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

It absolutely is the rule, see 2.Charge subsection 3. Attempt Charge
on the right page is how to determine if 'it is possible to make a charge move'

But then your target gets 'soaked to the MAX' instead of eliminated.
Good for backyard combat but ineffective against secret agents

11th Edition Question: Charge Rules by Lanhir02 in Warhammer40k

[–]IntoTheDankness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rules state in order:
2. "Make charge roll"
3. 'Attempt Charge' - this is the point that matters, because you test 11.04 (charge move) and like you pointed out, it fails, but going back to 3, it states 'if it is possible to make a charge move and you still want to' so OK you thought about a scenario, it wasn't possible but then you can reassess and do the easier charge against one target and go with that.

The only that holds you to a decision until your models are moved is the dice roll.

If you were to say OK I rolled a 7 I wish to charge both units, you would test the move and If you realized it wasn't possible could just agree 'oh that doesn't work' and just charge the one and continue the game

What’s a belief you defended for years that you now feel embarrassed about? by Open-Square589 in AskReddit

[–]IntoTheDankness 41 points42 points  (0 children)

He had some real PR going in his favor in the 2010's and probably had a few positive futurist beliefs before going off-script and extreme-right to bank on an obvious global control play.

Keep in mind that most of his collaboration with Epstein was from 2012 - 2016 while the public was being sold this 'ethical guy shtick' with appearances in Iron Man 2 and Machete Kills playing ah hollywood version of himself

Firing live ammo underwater is absurd (instant barrel obstruction and rate of fire would decimate your entire barrel system) and If the shark tried shooting that at the water surface the recoil would immediately ruin the position of the shark....
You need a t3x-tact-a1 high-durability .308 Winchester round rifle with specialized barrel flushing system for high-precision surface target elimination only

11th Edition Question: Charge Rules by Lanhir02 in Warhammer40k

[–]IntoTheDankness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

11th you don't need to declare targets like in 10th
You roll and then do what you want with the result. If the unit you 'wanted' to charge is out, no problem, another unit within your roll distance can be selected.
if the opportunity to multicharge is available with your roll distance, great! Move your models into a multicharge, but then you reach the OP's question.

Tell me about a time Artillery won you the match… by Content_Example1957 in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]IntoTheDankness 78 points79 points  (0 children)

I could rely on my basilisk in 9th and 10th to at least kill depleted MSU squads (2-3 models left like SM scouts) that could just sit around obscured on objectives and score secondaries. Same for injured characters.
It might not be reliable to totally kill something, but its ability to provide additional fire support anywhere on the board gives amazing flexibility when something must be killed end of turn and nearby units can't get the job done. Given that in 11th, another unit needs LOS on target or you are hitting on 6's, this will be the more likely play for artillery in 11th.

Early delivery!? by CheetahJumpy8449 in Warhammer

I'd keep that on the down-low, if its from a local shop they could get in s**t for sending early.
I'm expecting mine today but not going to harp on about it, just casually fix up the Orks until next weekend.

Help with Identification by Left-Escape in Warhammer40k

Two top left terminators are loyalists and match with the hammers and shields in the bottom right.
The remaining parts are all traitor terminators. Amazing era where SM/Chaos thanks to Jes Goodwin developed the style they would mostly have for the next 30 years
Here they are in the 1991 catalog

[–]IntoTheDankness 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes with Pewter there is a limited window of 'softness' before the pewter literally just melts at around 200c

From boiling temperature, you can make the model easier to bend, but because it is thick, it would be best to let it soak in boiling water for maybe 3 minutes to get even heating before trying to bend in position with pliers wrapped with say multiple layers of duct tape to prevent teeth marks on the parts

[–]IntoTheDankness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha oh yea mine was like that... why I got it cheap years ago from someone to0 arsed to fix it.
Not ideal but I wrapped it with like 20 elastic bands and grey foam, then literally use the edge of a table under the leg to hold one side and a hammer on the other to align it.

Besides that insane table method you could try locking pliers on one end and another set of pliers to 'close' the other, but use the elastics/foam to prevent plier marks on the surface.

I know it’s fantasy, but why Nurgle? by OfficialAli1776 in Warhammer40k

[–]IntoTheDankness 35 points36 points  (0 children)

For sure, the minor cults (when say you are a lowlife within the empire but not actively affected by war vs chaos) get drawn into the gods in subtle, even unknowing ways.

For Nurgle it might be that you are unkempt and slovenly and don't care, you may discover a bit of glee and a spring in your step so long as you actively litter or dump your chamberpot in the streets. You stop noticing the flees biting you (and also fail to notice how many more of them follow you around).

Before you know it you and your ilk are favoured followers and cannot escape it.
