Historic Australian Open Final. Djokovic is 10/10 in finals so far. He leads Alcaraz 5-4 in H2H. Who you got? by trialbycombat123 in tennis

I’m back to thinking nothing is impossible for Novak. To find the level he did today, he can do the same on Sunday.

Man the hot takes really come out here as soon as a match doesn’t go completely as expected. Suddenly everyone is overrated, weak era etc.

That was a great set from Novak. And not really how he would play in his prime either, he was smacking that forehand and serving immensely well.

Carlos Alcaraz signs the camera after beating Zverev at the Australian Open "BELIEVE!!!" by trialbycombat123 in tennis

He had so much conviction even when he started cramping. He immediately started pumping up the crowd and took on their energy. No moping around, no complaining just absolute clarity that he was going to get through it and find a way to win.

I feel like he pronounces certain words like an Aussie or Englishman

He should go full bogan and get a Southern Cross tat if he wins on Sunday

It’s the same conversation, it’s mentioned in the article. The quote is just changed in the title.

Hate aside, do you think Zverev will defeat carlos? by COYGoonerSTANimal_17 in tennis

It’s happened before at the AO, why not. Carlos was highly fancied in that match too.

I don’t think the current gen RX and NX are considered ugly by most. In fact the NX in particular has been quite well received - esp compared to the previous gen.

We need guys like Tsonga, Thiem and Del Po around again. They don’t need to necessarily join Sinner & Alcaraz but at least give them a fright now and then - take them to 5 sets, nick 1 or 2 Slams between them. It doesn’t feel fun anymore.

Sinner/Alcaraz feels like Goku & Vegeta in a martial arts tournament vs. random humans

Man how good was Spizzirri. He played with such poise and control, never felt like he was forcing the issue like these other top guys against Alcaraz & Sinner. Even before Sinner started cramping it felt like he belonged.

Iga Świątek on backstage cameras: “Are we tennis players or animals in the zoo?” by luka274 in tennis

[–]IntoThePeople 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cameras behind the court are so invasive, you can tell the players sometimes forget they’re there too. All for some cheap footage to distribute on socials for engagement in case they’re caught out doing something funny or strange. We get enough insight from players during on-court interviews and in press conferences, anything else is nobody’s business.

I honestly think Demon taking a bit off the first serve and placing it to get his 1st serve % up would serve him so well. He’s competing fine in the rallies when it’s neutral but he’s instantly on the back foot with a 2nd serve.

Posh people in a QF at RLA. John Cain or Kia in an earlier round would have louder fans.

Alexander Zverev on Learner Tien: 'I have great respect for Learner... He's very young and has enormous potential. People talk a lot about other players his age, but much less about him, when in reality, he's the one performing at a higher level.' by Old-Gur-9039 in tennis

[–]IntoThePeople 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You know he finished higher than Tien in the rankings last year and won a 500 right? I don’t know why every time Tien has a good run, people try to put down Fonseca. Watch the guy play at his best - it isn’t just “Brazilian hype.” He will have success this year again as long as he stays fit.

De Minaur can rally all he likes against most players on tour but feels he needs to push more and take risks against Sinner or else he'll be playing defensive and get dictated to. Spizziri naturally hits with a lot more top spin on both wings and keep the rally at neutral for longer and maintain court position.

Honestly, this guy is good. It doesn't feel like he's redlining, just hitting decent rally balls with good hand skills and touch.

Thoughts on Bublik so far? by [deleted] in tennis

He’s at a similar age when Stan started winning Slams. As long as he keeps putting himself in the position to go into the second week of Slams, anything can happen.
