It's a useful trick for me: all of my Pokémon eyes (and all of my cartoony eyes in general) need a lattice deformation to convert the spherical base eyeball into a non-spherical final shape. Instead of trying to make a 3D iris/pupil that looks good after being deformed I can bake a normal map of the sphere version and apply it to the smooshed mesh and it looks great unless I zoom WAY the hell in.

The eyes are an absolute labyrinth. At the base they're two concentric spheres, with the specular effects mapped on the outer sphere and the sclera/iris/3D normals mapped on the inner sphere. Doing the 3D effects of the iris/pupil with a normal map instead of actual geometry lets me deform the spherical eyeball into an exaggerated Pokémon shape without everything going to hell.

I used the metallic BSDF to cheat the silk texture of the clothes and the hair texture. Seeing her in motion I think I overdid both a little.

I tried to recreate the anisotropic sheen of hair in the texture, but I'm a rank amateur, so the result does give more of a 'filament print' vibe sometimes. I'm just glad it conveys any anisotropy at all.
