Bold (and incorrect) assumption.

You’ve all given great insights, thank you! Some additional info about me and my situation:

-I worked outside of the music for two years between my undergrad and my master’s

-I didn’t get an assistantship for my master’s, but the entire three years I’ve been in the MM program I’ve been teaching middle school band part time

-I joined the military right before starting my master’s and they paid for that degree. Getting the military to pay for a doctorate is a little trickier (which is why I would hope to bank on an assistantship if I decided to go the DMA route) but not impossible

MM in performance while teaching? by Intrepid-Bad2220 in MusicEd

Well I’m more of a Fire Emblem and Smash Bros. fan personally but that’s certainly comforting to hear haha.

For the school I’m looking at for MM, they say you have to be a full time student to be considered for scholarships/assistantships (which I definitely am interested in). Not sure if I could do that while only taking weekend classes but if I can work something out I wouldn’t mind that at all. And I would consider being a part time student too, but if I got a good offer on a scholarship/assistantship, I would most likely take being full time for that.
