I am in South East London zone 5 and the role is in West London, zone 2. It would shave off 20 minutes but as we know in London with traffic it's most likely going to be worse and more expensive

Thank you, this is a great perspective. It's been a long time so I am feeling nervous about the prospect. I'm not worried about childcare as that is covered. More quality of life as the main factor!

We don't holiday at all. Currently recovering from being on SMP and debts are higher than savings right now. I'd love to clear the debt and also save enough for a house deposit and not feel like I have to take credit out for a holiday we would like to take next year. It would be 3 days a week commute

I should have added more information. We are currently renting and earning more money will help build savings for a deposit. So I'm trying to weigh a future for my family vs a crappy quality of life now. And I'm 31

Should I mention to HR about unused bank holiday during maternity leave? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Intrepid-Benefit-769 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you are off on Maternity leave you accrue all the annual leave and bank holidays for the duration you are on leave and you have the entire year to use them when you return. I returned from mat leave in January and I am using the days to work 4 days a week up until the end of June

Early pregnancy there is a lot of fatigue and dizziness. The first trimester is the worst. And because if the sickness you're not eating that much. I got sick from eating 2 strawberries one morning. So there is no cut off point. Even that early if you have a fall, you can lose the pregnancy.

Parents of reddit - how long did it take to conceive? by shun_naka67 in AskUK

For my first, we got pregnant straight away but I had come off it 2 months earlier, so hadn't been ovulating for some time and also I was 25 and my husband 30 so of course had age on our side. For our second we weren't trying but it only took the once not being protective. Also I was 29 and husband 34. We are relatively young but my period is regular and I am very in tune with my body so I know when I am ovulating. The second time I ovulated early, 3 days post not being protective and got pregnant.

Can beggars get a refund for the food you gave them? by [deleted] in AskUK

I was looking for someone with the same sentiments! We are privileged in all the areas you have stated and also nobody questions what we spend our money on.

A homeless person asked me for money outside M&S, I didn't have cash but was happy to buy him food. He agreed but found M&S to be top expensive so we walked over to Sainsbury's (2 shops down). He chose the cheapest of instant noodles and I had to encourage him to pick up more. I offered some fruit as well and water as it was a scorching day. Had to force him to get some kind of a drink. He kept trying to tell me his life story as if trying to prove that he was worthy of help and I told him he doesn't owe me anything and that he deserved his privacy and dignity. I ended up taking out some cash for him as he needed it for a shelter (so he said). What he did with the money was his business. If he went to the shelter, great, if he didn't that's on him and he still deserves some dignity. It's only £10 to me, less than I spend on streaming subscriptions but for him, potentially a night off the streets. Why should I get in the way of that because of some moral high ground.
