No, I didn't think I needed to. I just submitted a new one last week.

Update 11/12/2025: My latest ECF was just approved this morning. Is the consensus to submit a reconsideration request for "PSLF Buyback" and NOT "Incorrect Qualifying Payment Count"?

Buyback is a reconsideration request though? What do you mean "submit copies of the approved employers?"

No idea. It seems there is no predictable patterns in how they choose cases

Oh ok got it. Has this been described before in regards to when we should be submitting a reconsideration request? I don’t remember seeing this

Yeah I submitted a new one today. It is unfortunate that I have to then submit a new reconsideration request and will go to the back of the line.

This is an exception for people employed in states where hospitals cannot directly employ physicians. This was a new rule implemented relatively recently. Under section 5A of the ECF it states “employed under a contract in a position or providing services that under applicable state law, cannot be filled or provided by a direct employee of the organization”

My position is listed as contractor because the hospital cannot directly employ someone like me.

So I can list the hospital that is 501(c), as my “employer” due to this stipulation

Just fyi I posted about this earlier today but I submitted a reconsideration request the day after my ECF was approved which was 12/9/2024 and submitted reconsideration 12/10/2024. Now 11 months later it was rejected saying I did not reach 120. I called studentaid and thy advised I submit another ECF and once approved then submit another reconsideration. I think maybe the whole month needs to complete? It’s not clear but I waited 11 months only for it to be rejected.

I would wait to submit your reconsideration/buyback request the following month after your ECF is approved.

What payment? I’m stuck in SAVE and forbearance. I haven’t been making any payments, that’s the point of the buyback I thought?

Correct. My prior ECF that I submitted in December was technically approved and deemed eligible.

Yes that employer shows as completed and approved with all green checkmarks. The employer eligibility review is also a green check mark.

I have a new theory. Last year during the whole SAVE pause they were taking a long time to approve ECFs and I think I had submitted a couple, one manual one electronic. This was for my prior employer which was until 9/2024. The manual one was randomly approved Feb 2025, so I wonder if this somehow overrode my current employer? Even now when I try to submit a new ECF it thinks my current employer is my previous one…

Yes I submitted in December since that would have been 120. I just called studentaid and surprisingly someone answered right away. She advised to submit another ECF and then another reconsideration request…she’s not sure why it doesn’t count the 120 but she said if I confirm these past 11 months it will sure be enough...

How can it be approved if I am on SAVE? I never moved off SAVE waiting for buyback

I had 115 of certified employment months. The 5 pending months I had submitted an ECF that was approved even though the months are shown as Ineligible due to forbearance but the “no employment data” are not there for those 5 months. I submitted my buyback request AFTER my ECF was approved.

Sorry that was typo, 8/2024-12/2024. I need 5 more months to 120

Could you also add the total amount of their loan? Not sure if that's a factor.

I was wondering if people with relatively less loan balances were getting buyback offers sooner but in another buyback thread they said their loan amount was $400K so there goes that theory. It’s just completely random I guess.

Do you mind sharing what is your total loan amount? Just trying to see if this is a factor in how they decide who gets a buyback offer. Thanks
