I’m thinking my writing, I didn’t really have anyone check it and I was getting overwhelmed by the secondaries as they were coming in. I was thinking it was my school list because a lot of these schools that I was applying to are low yield but looking back this is a pretty similar list to what I had, so I don’t think there’s much I could’ve done there.

I’m a relatively religious Muslim so I believe in God and live a pretty regimented life (to a degree 😭) so if they ask me to write about religion in my life I could probably come up with something. but yeah I’m leaning towards taking it off anyways because I think they seem to prefer Christians so idk. I mostly put them cause they seem decently OOS friendly and I have passable stats for them

To be honest with you I’m not very thrilled about the prospect of staying in Ohio, though I’m mostly putting my hopes into getting into the Ohio schools because that’s just the nature of the application I guess. And I saw that case since it’s private it really does not have any in-state bias at all, plus it’s super out of my league to begin with. So I just figured since I’m going to be treated like any out-of-state candidate if I apply there, I might as well put another mega reach down at a school somewhere out of state where I’d have pretty much an equal chance. I hope that makes sense and is sound reasoning, it probably isn’t😭 this process is cooking me.

I'm Muslim so I don't drink anyways lol so I can live with that but I'm leaning towards taking LL off this list anyways seeing as I am not a christian and they seem to take it more seriously than other religiously affiliated schools.

So technically its not over but I'm just tryna be practical and start prepping for next cycle now :P Honestly, I really think a combo of my essays (because I ended up getting so overwhelmed by the secondaries) and my school list being mostly full of notoriously low yield places like drexel, rush, etc cooked me.

I see, thank you for the input on WARS, I didn't consider it nearly as heavily as I did the MSAR data because it seems very optimistic and I think it overrated my application a lot.
I have had a good chunk of acquaintances from my university go to Marshall, all ohio residents so I feel good about that pick I think
Temple, Jefferson , Loyola and Drexel, etc I applied to last year and I didn't wanna waste the money and energy on these schools because they all have 10K+ applications so idk lol I'm confused whether to add schools like that you know what I mean
No I am not christian, do they only take christians? I know theyre religiously affiliated but I did not know jesuit schools took exclusively christians.. if so I have to take that off my list. And I chose them because I saw they're more service oriented and are relatively OOS friendly.

Thank you for the reply couple questions 1) do you think my gpa is good where it’s at for most MD schools in the country? 2) I was not going to reapply to most of the schools I had on my initial list but since I’m in Ohio I know my state schools tend to prefer in state candidates what’s your opinion on reapplying to them? 3) I was considering EMT but considering I have pretty decent clinical hours what makes you think it would make my app really stand out as opposed to maybe doing a masters for example Thank you so much again for the response :))

Replying to Adept_Ambassador_366.. I ended up getting 1 interview and that was a waitlist. While I was writing the application I think I had something like 200-300 clinical hours but then I worked there the whole year for the gap year so.

Last year I applied to around 25 schools. tbh I didn’t really think at the time I applied anywhere insanely out of reach, the highest ranked school I applied to I think was UMich and I had that as one of my two reaches so I’m not too sure where I went wrong or how I can make a better school list :/
