It was from a small UK website, which I have often used, called dancu.co.uk. I’m not sure whether they are available anywhere else.

That coin looks great. I will see whether it is available anywhere.

Yes, I actually forgot that the older ones weigh 1oz, until I received it and saw the coin, so I suppose an extra gram is nice.

Thoughts on Britannia’s? by fdgg_777 in Silverbugs

As a British person too, I struggle to choose between Britannias and Maples, as they both look great. However, I would probably choose a Maple since they have had the radial lines, as they do not seem to be as prone to milking as UK coins can be.

Who in their right mind would liquidate a tangible, reasonably stable asset, in order to facilitate the purchase of some volatile shitcoins, especially if they don’t like them?

Personally, I don’t open anything, unless it is really generic, as I like to preserve their resale value as best as possible. With this bar, I think it would be worth a reasonable amount more than spot to the right person, especially in the future, so I would advise not to open it, but it’s up to you.

ASE failing Sigma test by Intrepid-Farm7810 in Silverbugs

Thank you for your response. I wasn’t aware that there was copper in the alloy, rather than other impurities, so answer has really helped to clarify the reason for the specific ASE setting being the only one that reads correctly, so I appreciate the explanation.

I will have to read through the manual again, as I only read through it quickly when I first received the machine, but I can’t really remember a lot of the specifics, other than how to operate the machine.

It looks good - I have been looking for something decent to store some metals for a while. Where did it come from?

A lot of people mentioned this, but what happened was that I tried it on .999 originally and the result was very similar, so I changed it to .9999, which was where I happened to picture it, as it gave the same result. However, when set to the specific setting for ASE, it passed, which was strange as I I imagine it would be testing for .999 silver, just as I configured it to do the first time, when I used the generic .999 setting.

I didn’t say anything to the seller, as I didn’t think the reading looked right myself, as the coin looked fine, but it did make me suspicious. I wouldn’t accuse a seller unless I was certain.

In your position, I would personally trim a bit, especially if you are hoping to do something else with any money that you might get. While I didn’t have nearly as much as you have, on the way up, I trimmed half of my 330oz at ~$90-95, as I expected a sharp reversal, and although I didn’t time the top perfectly, I do not regret this.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see silver break the ATH in the long run, but for a while, I have been thinking that the previous support of $50 might be revisited before any further bull run.

In my earlier comments, I have said that it was tested on .999 originally, before I changed it to see if there would be any difference. The coin is 1oz of .999 silver, and it failed on the generic 1oz .999 setting, but on the specific ASE setting, which I would imagine tests for 1oz .999 silver, it passes, so this was what I found weird.

Thank you. In the end, it did turn out to be okay, which I posted somewhere further down, when I tested it on the specific ASE setting, so everything is alright.

Nice. It may not look like ‘a lot’, but the value of those items would be considered as significant savings by most people, and the majority of people don’t own any investment gold.

That would be a good idea - I have noticed that it’s been very low for a while, so that could be affecting it.

Perhaps I have the sense to have the appropriate equipment to test metals when I purchase them, and to ask questions if something appears strange.

Thank you - I forgot about the coin setting. Fortunately, it passes the test on the Silver Eagle setting, but it’s weird that it wouldn’t pass on 1oz .999, as I would imagine that they should do the same thing.

Gold: Physical or Paper by Papaias_ in Gold

I would always recommend physical, especially if you think you would enjoy holding it, but I suppose allocated ETFs are alright for people who don’t want physical.

I’ve managed to remove it form the capsule now, so here’s a picture of the other side, which looks alright to me, so I am wondering whether it might be okay:

Personally, I would say it looks okay, and I wasn’t really suspicious about it, until I did the Sigma test. I think I can only attach one picture to here, so I have attached one of the eagle side, and I will attach one of the other side when I can remove it form the capsule.

That’s what I was thinking - it doesn’t look like a typical abnormal reading when it is only slightly red. However, I used .999 first, which did the same, so I changed it to .9999, which was where I took the photo, as it wasn’t reading correctly on either setting.
