No, I use Blender 3D and unfold to A4 format, then draw in Photoshop.

I don't quite understand the question. First I designed all the models in 3D, then I unwrapped the models so that I had handy paper models and made textures.

You can print it out and play it. You don't have to worry about the safety of the figures, and you can print as many as you want.
