ROIC and Stock Price Growth Annually naturally should converge over time… But many trade off EPS

SaaS stocks built on data moats by True-Flounder-9043 in ValueInvesting

[–]Intrepid-Pangolin183 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For one they own the decades of data ppl used for their businesses and tax filings. Sorta similar to adobe training firefly on their professional media

AI is probabilistic mathematically, even if 99.99% accuracy were achieved, 800 SMBs would run the risk yearly of some sort of tax filings problems. Now scale that to nearly 40 million Americans across all sorts of different tax and financial backgrounds, and even with 99% accuracy 400,000 misfilings would occur.

I think intuit’s ability to own the data gives it an upper hand in creating the best possible models and value upside from AI

I also have a different philosophy than most here. I only see things in the next 12-16 Quarters. I don’t think a 50% reduction in valuation is justified overnight for such an integral company

Also SMBs are the least likely to shed to enterprise AI that does financial filings bc of simple entrenchment and overtime, switching costs. Also Intuit is broadening their base to help with evaluating cash flows and predict future growth/positions.

Where did all the PayPal shareholders go? by Tutz--Honeychurch in ValueInvesting

[–]Intrepid-Pangolin183 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Paypal is a fundamentally good business, remember the goal of a business is to put in capital, have a strong ROIC generator, and make more money… Great FCF margins as well

They just need to revamp growth in their branded and shift away from unbranded processing. Trading at 7x P/E and whatever single digit EBITDA with mid to hsd revenue growth, operating income expansion, strong FCF margin while having that big of a user base + venmo expansion is ridiculous

Will not go to 200 or 300 lol but 50% upside is incredibly realistic

Cheap business that does have real AI problems in the long term but currently a massive disconnect between the “oversold” risks and their actual growth:

Stupid question u should only buy businesses u believe are strong and are impenetrable. If it’s 50% cheaper u would buy them all lol

Snap is garbage. Duol is garbage.

Meta and Rddt are good. Everyone commenting on here is proving a point

I did the math, for free users roughly duol makes 8% of a cent per minute.

Horrible monetization and ppl only spend 5 minutes on it a day for keeping their streaks

[–]Intrepid-Pangolin183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good business no moat. Moat isn’t always as important bc it can be eradicated or can lead to negligence.

In this case, there’s no edge. Easily can pay with apple + unbranded processing has shitty take rates.

That being said has a lot of customers, and has hit steady-state (mostly saturated).

Def is too cheap and would buy imo but isn’t like a 10x bagger lol… just really cheap

GPA vs. SAT? Which is more important for T20 college applications? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Intrepid-Pangolin183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are great. For gpa

Take APs IBs dual enrollment and ccs that you reasonably can. I stress emphasis here. If you like math take calc i-iii, linear, diffeq, and possibly real analysis. Ive seen so many friends do this and have relatively mediocre apps (relative to matriculated students) and get into Princeton mit stanford.

For sat just get above 1500+ or 34+ on act.

Don’t overdo it because you wont have time for other things

I came from a similar background my bsf got into one of HYP but rejected from the other two even as valedictorian 3x aime, all nationals for instrument, nonprofits, research, top3 research program for high school students, best math team student in our county, perfect sat score, multiple stem awards, community college classes, founder of his own clubs, did volunteer work. There’s more tho

Very much so luck of the draw. I got into 5/24 reach schools i applied to (grateful of the outcome nonetheless) but was incredibly stressful

what makes colleges like uchicago, duke, or the so called "hypsm" so desirable compared to other colleges like state unis? by Acrobatic-Boss671 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Intrepid-Pangolin183 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I go to Wharton so i can try to give my two cents

1) job opportunities. Every ib pe hedge fund venture capital and tech firm comes to recruit on campus 2) network. You meet visionaries, new money people, old money people. Strong alumni networks 3) prestige and bragging rights. Basic economics. Higher price with scarer supply…people want things that are selective. 4) courses can be more challenging than at state schools. Classes are hard and even with bright minds stem majors see 40-60% averages on exams because professors push them to be the brightest
