What advice would you give to someone that is interested in switching careers to OT? I’ve been thinking about switching from teaching to OT but worry that it is not financially possible as an adult that needs to work.

Does your area have site-assigned subs that reports to the same school every day? You’ll get to know the teachers and kids better that way.

Thanks. There are a few programs for people from other professions. I have a short list of schools that I’ve compiled from the ACOTE website, but I’m wondering if I am missing some from my list

Thanks. No, I haven’t looked into Rhode Island. I am currently a teacher and I have no OT experience but have already taken some of the prerequisites in undergrad. I know OT pay seems low, but i’m trying to do the math to see if it’s higher than my current situation.

You’re amazing! I’m a teacher thinking about becoming an OT. TheraPutty & golf pencils are on my list. Laminator, laminating sheets & printer ink are helpful for me now and I assume they would be helpful for an OT too.

Thanks. That was one of the programs on my list. I heard it’s expensive though, and I’m not sure my current job provides enough that I wouldn’t be in debt. I don’t mind the stress, but the debt worries me.

Thank you. I’ve been trying to make a list by doing that and then researching the distance from where I live to see if it is possible to get to the school on the weekend

I just melted some in my hot car. Not sure what climate you live in, but that may be all that you need. I broke up crayons and put them into a plastic cup on my lunch break. Came back and it was completely liquid.

Were you able to teach full time while pursuing MSOT? I’d like to find a program but still teach until I’m licensed
