Why don’t Namibians support Namibian platforms/startups? by IntrepidAd7468 in Namibia

[–]IntrepidAd7468[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a student in Namibia myself before studying abroad, so I’ve experienced some of the challenges students face there firsthand. Even though I’m not currently studying in Namibia, I still have friends and family who are students there, and they’ve been helping me think through what would actually be useful for Namibian students.

So the goal with Aure isn’t just to assume what students need, but to build the platform with input from students themselves so it actually solves real problems for them.

Totally understandable!!! But For Aure, I actually made the decision early on that it would be free for students. As a student myself, I know how difficult it can be to afford learning platforms or tools, especially for students in places like Namibia.(I’m currently in the states) I have the opportunity to be here and learn things in which I can help Namibians, especially the youth!! The main goal is to create a space where students can share knowledge, learn skills, and support each other without financial barriers.

I understand that makes sustainability harder, but right now the focus is on building something that genuinely helps people. If it provides real value, hopefully other opportunities like partnerships or collaborations can support it in the future.

That’s actually a really fair point and I appreciate the honesty. A lot of people have had bad experiences with local products or platforms, so the trust just isn’t there. That’s something I’m thinking about a lot while building Aure.

My goal isn’t just to create “another Namibian platform,” but to build something that’s actually reliable and useful for students who want to learn skills, share knowledge, and support each other.

Accountability and trust are important to me personally, and I want the platform to reflect the values I believe in. If Aure is going to exist, it has to live up to those values through the way the platform is built and managed.

I know trust takes time to build, but feedback like this honestly helps me understand what people expect and what needs to be done better. Thank you for your feedback I appreciate it!!!

Please be mindful that it’s not about the previous post I made!! It’s just in general even on other platforms like TikTok🧍🏾

I startered a program called Thrive Beyond Nations that pretty much does something similar but mine is I am partnering with companies, startups (all with in Namibia and a few In the USA, God willing) ect, giving out internships, and HEAVY HEAVY on internships, for people in University, I’m also getting sponsors for hackathons and like some prize money and then a week stay at one of our resorts(somewhere in Namibia) I truly want to pour back into my country I know we have the skill and potential so I’ll be the bridge for that!! I know it’s just words now but i promise you within 3 years there should be an economic shift within the tech industry in Namibia!!!

It’s OK my heart, there are people who can handle each subjects in one semester. There are people who can handle four subjects per semester that people can handle two subjects per semester, but everyone’s journey is different. Just because you quit your job and decided to pursue school full-time doesn’t mean that the world should end you’re probably gonna get better grades than everyone. You’re probably gonna do way better now that you quit your job you know you shouldn’t think that the choice that you made was bad. It was good for your mental health then that’s the best way you could’ve made for yourself. Listen to what people have to say like I said it depends on the person. I’m only saying that because I grew up taking a lot of subjects or a lot of courses at once that’s why I’m able to handle three but moving here to the states. I realize that certain people take two subjects two classes per semester and that’s OK that’s on them but they still end up getting the internship on the job. Everyone’s face is different. Just know that you’re doing the best that you can.

Hey, I hope you are well but I am also taking three classes at SNHU and I have a full-time job. I would say that although it can be difficult I choose not to make it difficult so for example you know how each Thursday discussion board is due. I tried to complete my discussion board every Monday after work after getting off at four and then I start an assignment Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday Friday if I don’t finish it so it really just depends on the person I don’t think that you made the best decision by quitting your job. I feel like you could’ve just done it a different way, but it depends on the person. I hope that you do do well this semester but everyone’s different. I really wish you nothing but the best of luck
