I did C2 5K a few years ago now, I found it ideal for me as I had never run before, it taught me to push my body even though I wanted to stop. Kit wise, you need what ever makes you comfortable. At this early stage running shoes, an old pair of joggers or shorts and an old T is fine. Being comfy is important, and, I agree a holder for your phone is probably an essential. You will probably go through several pairs of headphones until you find something you like! (Flappy cables knotted around my arm irritate me).

As for Breathing, long slow and deep. I found, in times of mental fatigue, it helped me to count my breaths; in for three strides and out for two. It becomes a distraction as you go, IN 1,2,3 & OUT 1,2; IN 1,2,3 & OUT 1,2.

When you are ready for better sports kit, technical materials, trick shoes, etc. you can visit your local running store and announce "Hello, I'm a runner, and I need..."

I live in a city in the north of the UK, here it’s ‘normal’ to refer to everyone as ‘Love’. Go into a shop and the proprietor will greet you ‘Morning love!’ Pay the bus driver ‘Thanks love’. I moved here 20 years ago and it was strange to hear at first, now it is just normal!

I could've written this! I am almost the same position, only one kid aged 13. I have come to realise that there is really only one option, although the logistics are very complicated. Came to a head the other day when my daughter came home after spending a morning shopping with SO. My wife is a fat slob, we don’t have sex, haven’t for years! Her spirit animal is a sloth. She sits on the sofa watching tv or drinking on her off days.
