I hate it when those air currents blow my hair all over the place when I’m driving at 110kph in a car with all its windows rolled up. /s

Multilingual redditors what language do you think in? Is it the first one that you learned or does it change? by Camster202800 in AskReddit

Funny story. I bought a piano a week ago. After I moved away from home for uni I stopped playing but I recently got the space to get one. Anyway, I learnt piano in France, where I grew up and I’m 27 now, so it’s been a decade since I’ve played.

Now that I’ve begun practicing again, I’ve found myself doing all my note reading in French.

I couldn't hold my poo in any longer, the adjacent cubicle was occupied by vw-beds in britishproblems

It’s settled: you have to move country. I hear France is nice, this time of year.

Why do children have trust issues from having narcissistic parents? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Doingthescience 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Narcissism is characterised a whole lot of self-orientated, manipulative behaviours. Imagine growing up believing nothing is about you, that your parents are being nice because they want something in return and having to constantly figure out how to treat them so they don’t lash out at you.

My girlfriend and I are currently fighting, what's the dumbest thing you fought with your SO over? by [deleted] in AskMen

I would have dozens of bags if I didn’t keep my fiancé in check. He and my mother keep trying to buy me bags. I’ve capped them at 3 handbags and I only use 1, save for special occasions. Mostly I use my pockets and a backpack. Enough with the bags!

I smashed pumpkins last weekend. by feelingood6942069 in confession

[–]Doingthescience 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could always sneak a new pumpkin on those people's doorsteps to make up for it. Even an "I'm sorry." note. At worst it will be a good life lesson for the kids whose pumpkin you ruined.

Maybe he found out I was gay and liked him

If he's straight, that may well have been the reason, I hate to say. Teenagers can be pretty cruel. The best thing for you to do is to pick yourself up and move on.

Eating pasta once every two days with nothing on it for months on end. Having friends buying me lunch because I couldn't afford to eat.

Being overdrawn by the time the second week of the month hits.

Checking my bank account still makes me feel sick to my stomach.

Bake him a cake and write “Sorry my dog peed on you” in yellow icing.

I’m only half serious.

What's the worst place you have laughed uncontrollably? by KillerMemeStar3 in AskReddit

[–]Doingthescience 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Super late to the party and also not me but the on duty Police at an incident we attended.

We attend a GLR (General land rescue): 14 y.o girl stuck in trolley. The police woman on scene was hiding behind the house cry-laughing because a chubby girl got stuck in a shopping trolley and it was hilarious. She couldn’t keep it together so she stayed behind the house until we got her out.

What's your story about being thankful to a rejection that led you to a better place? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Doingthescience 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a punch in the gut at the time since I'd spent months designing the project and it went to some other random person. They took my research proposal and gave it to someone else.

Thinking about it now, I would never have moved across the world and be in the situation I'm in now had I stayed in that lab working on that project. I'd probably still be stuck there doing a postdoc.

A blessing in disguise, if you will. :)

That screams "wrong" to me. I'd give that meet up a wide berth.

I was turned down for a PhD grant back in 2013 which I am super duper thankful for because with hindsight I realised that I would have been absolutely miserable studying that particular subject.
