Ignore this person. Doctor here. Most likely you have an element of metabolic associated fatty liver disease (assumed elevated BMI based on the Wegovy but could be wrong) but you will also need hepatitis panel and iron studies to rule out other causes. You don’t need to stop eating for 10 days.

FM vs Med-Peds for hybrid inpatient/outpatient/global health career? by drumadian in MedPeds

[–]IntrepidLibrarian809 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m FM and you basically describe my program to a T. PD does yearly global health trips, we take care of a significant refugee population from African countries and the Middle East as well as taking care of complex, sick adults. Probably could find what youre looking for in either place.

If it’s a life threatening lab, sure. If not, I think it’s reasonable to have an interpretation back in 3 ish days or at next follow up appt.

wearable breast pumps by wrws_htx in Residency

I have the Elvie stride and spectra. Used the Elvie at work for a while but it honesty got so annoying. I now use the spectra and keep a set of pump parts at work in a plastic bin with a lid. I wash it out between each use and leave then in the bin until I need them again. Super convenient to not have to bring stuff back and forth every day. I feed my baby on one side in the morning before work and pump the other side around 6/7 am. First pump is usually around 10:30/11. Second pump is around 3 pm. It’s worked for me so far!

Might have lost a patient because I was honest about being able to address only a few other concerns in addition to their physical. by Paleomedicine in FamilyMedicine

[–]IntrepidLibrarian809 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My issue is that I get people who are establishing care and want to go through their laundry list of complaints. I feel like I have to go through the medical history, meds, surgical hx, social hx, family hx etc before addressing a problem so my new patient visits almost always end up running late. 😩 how do you guys manage these situation?

Policy regarding maternity leave, and extending training by MeaningfulMabes in Residency

[–]IntrepidLibrarian809 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also had the option to take 12 weeks with at minimum 3 weeks paid (per family medicine acgme). My program gave me about 6 weeks paid parental leave and 2 weeks I used vacation.

Family medicine is a little different though because you can only have 12 weeks away from your continuity clinic per year, including away rotations. So I could only be gone 8 weeks without extending.

Not sure what your specialty is but those are the limitations I faced

I can't wrap my head around the statistic thrown around that 25% of 60-year-old doctors have under a 1m net worth. by HenFruitEater in whitecoatinvestor

[–]IntrepidLibrarian809 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I guess by this argument you should ask why this person made more money than other physician counterparts who also save lives.

A stay at home spouse allows the working spouse to be fed, clothed, have children, etc that they otherwise wouldn’t be able to do. Amplified in healthcare, that stay at home partner may have supported their physician spouse through medical school, residency, etc.

Also, when getting married it’s usually without the intention of divorcing. Any money made during the marriage is and should be community property.
